Just can't get that gutsy driving sound...

You're right, 64 Firebird. I guess I would suggest to Stewwy that he needs to fool with his tone controls to achieve a sound that cuts through, since he says he has a pleasing level of overdrive.

So what's everyone using for monitors?

A pair of Event 20/20 bas. Yeah, I know, but I'm used to them now, and know what to expect.

Just can't get that gutsy driving sound...

I agree with Sonusman. I have been very happy with my 65 Vibrolux Reverb with any of my guitars. I don't even need a pedal to get nice overdrive at a reasonable volume. Sonusman, I didn't realize you were in Portland. Do you know my friend Dave Mullany? He does an acoustic blues thing. Also...

Who made you want to play??

Jorma Kaukonens solo on "Somebody To Love", but I think I was already trying to play by then. Tell it King, Tell it!!!!! The man speaks the truth!

    Billy Gibbons

The Rev. Gibbons, wondrous as he is, is known for making statements in interviews about his gear that may be a tad misleading. EVH did this a lot in the past (yeah, man, Jose Arredondo modded my Marshalls!), and he may have picked it up from him when they were getting together and building up...

Need a REALLY good multi-effects and/or Reverb rack unit for live guitar...

not programmible, but nice...the M300 My bass player bought a TC M300 for our studio, and the other night I brought it home to check it out and connected it to the effects loop in my Marshall Jubilee amp. Now, I usually can't stand using the effects loop, nor do I care for any digital effects...

    finally! My First Tube Amp

Tubes are the best for guitar! Welcome to the wonderful world of tube amps! They're the only way to go. The Fulltone Full Drive II sounds great with Fender amps. You can score a used one from e-Bay. Also, I understand that the new Barber Direct Drive is an excellent pedal, and....it's only...

    Guitar shops in/near Crystal City

Music stores in the metro area I can vouch for Action Music in Arlington as being one of the more interesting shops to go to. None of the mass-market crud you'll see in the chain stores, just nice, quality guitars and amps. Plus, it's right there in VA, not too far from where your meetings will...

    Peterson VS-1 Virtual Strobe Tuner

Replacement model coming In May, according to the Peterson site, they will ship a version with a built in metronome. I don't know yet if this will replace the VS-1 or not.

    lexicon 100 vs 110

competing prices Not only is the M-300 $199 at MF, if you use the lowest price quote request at AMS, they'll respond with a matching price. I think shipping is maybe a buck cheaper there too.

M-300 - Balanced? Pundit, that TC M-300 sounds like a great alternative to the cheap Lexicons. Does it have balanced ins and outs???

    your fave mp3 software

OK, you regulars on this thread know more than I do about mp3s, so I need to pick your big, fat, juicy chess club brains: I've been fooling around with MusicMatch basic, and every time I bring home a CD with a song from our studio, and upload it to MusicMatch, and then rip an mp3 there is an...

    click tracks?

I think the Boss device you're talking about is the Dr. Beat, the first one. You can choose the time signature, then any combination of quarter notes, eighth, sixteenth, triplets, and select the tempo with a dial. It has a line out and headphone out. Not programmable for time changes or...

Best way to promote your site on the web?

fee to be on search engines? Good thread! I'm in the process of building a web site, and I was wondering if those of you who already have them can answer my question as to whether you have to pay a fee to be listed. I may be wrong, but a casual search of sites seemed to indicate this. I really...
