Anything would be better than what I am doing now. I am recording with Cakewalk Home Studio and I'm using a cheap, plastic computer microphone. Imagine what the distortion sounds like when I try to put it on my guitar, especially with all the background noise that's already going on.

I am debating which type of mic to buy with my fostex MR-8.
Can anyone recommend a microphone that could record vocals and instruments all in one? I am trying to save money.
uh huh him.
To deadhippy: I will mostly be recording acoustic guitar which will be electrified by the effects on the recorder since I don't have an amp.
Richard, why do you dislike the mics I have chosen? Unfortunately, I do not think that I can afford to buy $200 mics. That is why I chose what I...

Hi,
I don't have enough money to buy a multitrack recorder, so I have been thinking about purchasing this. I would only need to record one track at a time. I plan on getting 2 condensor mics (one for vocals and one for guitar). Also planning to get a set of headphones. I have Cakewalk Home...
Hey,
I have been planning to purchase an 8-track digital recording studio (accessories and all) with my income tax refund. Unfortunately, I am in the process of moving and will need the extra money to furnish an apartment. So, at this time, I can't purchase an 8-track, which leads to my next...
Hi,
I've posted a few times before about purchasing my first multitrack recorder. Thanks to everyone's help, I finally figured out what additional accessories I needed.

Which cable do I need? The 1/4" RCA or just regular 1/4" cables?
I am buying a pair of Samson Resolv 50a Studio Monitors for a Boss BR864 recorder. I am a little confused as to which type of cable is needed to connect the monitors to the recorder. It says "Connections 1/4" and RCA inputs." What exactly does this mean? And what kind of cable would I need...
In the next few months, I am planning to purchase a Boss BR864 recorder. With the help of a friend, I think I have all of the appropriate accessories needed to power it up after I get everything out of the boxes. But, just in case I don't, can you all please tell me if I am missing something...
Thanks for your info, everybody. Very informative. I have just one more question: If you were me, what brand of recorder would you purchase? There are so many different kinds with so many different features. What would be the best for a beginner???
Hope to read more advice soon.
Thanks...
