    Mackie 828's hyped?

    Am I using these things wrong? When I listen to a mix through these, I got nice reverbs on the vox, present up front guitars, kickin drums, booming bass...then I burn it, listen to it else where, and almost always the mix if lifeless, the bass is non-existent, and the reverbs are...

    new spin (maybe) on old topic...when placing mics...how do you know when you get the right sound...eg., do you wear headphones and play with placement until it sounds right...set up, record, play back, adjust, repeat, lather rinse...what do YOU do?

    useless eq?

    I think I was looking more towards something to the effect of...everything below 50hz on the guitar will always just be mud in a mix, and everything above 10khz (I am just making this up for an example) is just noise. if such things don't have hard and fast rules, then so be it.

    Common EQ frequencies for vocals and electric guitar

    so, then following the article where it says to cut at 400hz and boost at 5 khz...but using a peak of 50hz, isn't the 5khz and 400 hz for that matter already cut? any settings in waves parametric eq will be tres beneficial in explaining this concept so I can see it. Thanks!

    Common EQ frequencies for vocals and electric guitar

    I am reading that EQ primer...really good article to give a starting point...but I am a bit lost as to what he means when he says peak equalization with a 1.4Q, when refering to adding more fullness to such instruments as the kick drum. i THINK that means for the kick drum, 50hz will be at zero...

    StudioPUNK_POP !!! Re-Tracked -> Re-Mixed

    have to agree...could be a great song...kind of radio head/weezer-ish (rh being sweater song)...but those vocals need to be tamed down BIG TIME...especially in the chorus and bridge.

    useless eq?

    I am looking for a list of useless eq...like...on vocals anything below 70hz and above 10,000 hz should be cut completely. Does anything like this exist?

    The power of pregnancy.............

    Love the intro. Your voice reminds me so much of the band August Red...the were a local tempe band when I was in college...anyway. The drums sound a bit lifeless...that is my only critisism...everything else sounds good. If you do want to stay happily married...don't ever play this song for...

    new recordings are slowly improving. .. heres a sample

    everything sounds very far away. The song itself is good...but really...did you HAVE to use the 'phone' plug-in? Part of being punk is not being like everyone else. Like the guitar work on the bridge...some of the vocals sound very similar to this time I went out drinking and then projectile...
