Studiomaster consoles...anyone know anything about them?

The one's I'm looking at look newer than that...from Google searching "studiomaster", it looks like someone bought the rights to the name and started making boards again....

Studiomaster consoles...anyone know anything about them?

Looking for a medium priced 8 bus board...saw a ton of Mackie 24-8's and 32-8's, and a couple of these Studiomasters. Seemed to be priced comparable to the Mackies, maybe set up more like an AH or a Soundcraft. Supposedly have a "British" sound, whatever that means. Anyone have any experience...

oktava 012 - take the GC risk?

That thread is another one of Harvey's gems. It better titled "How to Match a Set of 012's For Fun and Profit!" Nathan, print the thread referenced above and take it with you when you go to GC to check out the 012's. Go on a Tuesday afternoon...you'll be glad you did.

oktava 012 - take the GC risk?

Tell the toad's manager that you're not buying shit without testing it first. And lay your $200 on the counter as you say it. I'll bet you get to test the mics.

Can you move this post to the "Equipment for Sale" board, please? Plugging your own eBay auction is closely related to spam, methinks.

    Anyone used a V69 w/ a Sytek?

I'm picking up an MPX 4 as my main mic preamp. I was wondering if anyone had used either a V69 or an AT4040 with the Sytek and what their opinions were... Thanks.

New M-AUDIO NOVA MIC - anybody have it - info?

I haven't heard a thing about the Nova, but there was a LONG thread about the Luna a month or so ago...the author was pretty complimentary, and the clips he posted sounded pretty good. I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume that you're recording rap and/or hip-hop. Are you using it for anything...

    Oktava, Mk012 for drum overheads

You'll never regret having a pair of SDC's in the locker, even if you choose to mic your set with a single LDC as an overhead. There are a variety of methods you can use to stereo mic the OH's. I believe Harvey even discusses a couple of them in The Big Thread pinned to the top of this very...

    Oktava, Mk012 for drum overheads

If you want a MATCHED pair, The Sound Room is about the only place I know of that matches them up and advertises them as such. You'll drop about $500 for a set, IIRC. These will have been tested very well and you should have no QC issues, at least not out of the box. If you just want a pair...

What is the best cheap condensor mic to capture music in a room?

And how are you going to treat it once you capture it? I don't want to be part of another scandal, with pictures of AE wannabes leading naked, confused, blindfolded music around the room with a dog leash.

    Peluso Microphones

Larry- Thanks for the response. The "SPAM" reference is near and dear to the hearts of a vocal minority here at HomeRec who think that people plugging gear, especially with their first few posts, are somehow connected to the manufacturer or retailer and are plugging the gear only to boost...

    Peluso Microphones

Larry- Could you post some samples of your work with one of the Peluso mics? I think you'll find that a very loud minority on this BBS will immediately call you a spammer if your first post happens to be something positive about a product that hasn't seen much in the way of reviews...

How successful are YOU w/ your recording?

I guess I fall somewhere in between. I started my studio as a place for me and some friends to screw around and record some of the stuff that had been bouncing around in our heads. No thoughts of making any money at all-it was a hobby. Then I was approached by an aquaintence who asked if he...

    Over head mics

That's kinda why I said at $200 or less it was a good deal. Much more than that, you're getting into the price range of mics that are considered by many to be a step up (C4, NT5). The 603's are highly regarded for the price, and they're not much under $200. A used set of 012's is worth about...

    Computer Recording

Your soundcard has a rudimentary preamp built in-that's why you can plug in a 1/8" mic to your card and talk through the computer. You won't find a "decent" mic that has an 1/8" plug-virtually every mic that's worth a damn will have an XLR plug, or, at WORST, an 1/4" plug. You can buy the best...
