You know, I saw one of these and an AutocomPro in a pro studio ran by a guy i know mutually, and it rather shocked me. I've never had much faith in them, i heard they were rather noisy, even at the price point they sell at. *shrugs* Anyone have any opinions otherwise on 'em?

My gut feeling would tell me that the XDR pres in a Mackie would outperform this Yamaha... but then again, that's just my gut feeling.

It's not Ozone... if you go to http://www.mp3.com/toefinger5 you see samples straight out of the studio without any mastering done to it. as far as getting it to the comp, we mix down from the Otari 8-track reel to a Panasonic DAT, where we get the two-track master, and then burn that to CD...

as everyone who's paying attention to my horribly newbie threads knows, i'm looking for cheap passable gear... I need a preamp setup that will be alright for a drum room. We usually run around six mics on the drums (because we don't have like, four GOOD ones lol), and we get a decent sound...
