Uploaded new mix from Alpha Beta Base

Well done, Lee. I really enjoyed the mood that was projected by this recording. I agree that a few chord changes would add some interest, but if the musicians like it that way, you have to respect that. Fortunately, due to the great sounding vocals and the way you applied just the right...

    wanted: midi interface!

Years ago, when I first got into MIDI with my computer, I started with one of those game port adapters. But I had lots of trouble with it, which is why I bought the MOTU Flyer that I mentioned. It worked great for a while, but in time I expanded my system and upgraded to an 8 port USB...

    Studio, Work in progress

Nice pics man - looking pretty good! You guys have been working hard. You have a totally cool Dad to support your hobby and help out like that, I hope you let him know how much you appreciate his efforts. Can't wait to see how it looks finished with your gear set up in there!

    whats wrong with this mix?

Well, at least I didn't call him a dick and tell him to give up music and work at McDonalds  . Seriously, I meant no insult and hope he doesn't take it that way. I don't see anything wrong with making music that teenagers like. When I was a teen I liked a lot of old rock bands -...

    whats wrong with this mix?

I'd rather you just got lost and didn't call me (or anyone else) anything. Signing someone else's name on a neg rep - you're a jackass.

    whats wrong with this mix?

I don't take you seriously, and I highly doubt if anyone else does either. That's why you're wasting your time. By the way, if you want to change your ways a bit, start posting something worth a damn, and treat the others here with something that resembles respect, I'd be just fine with that...

    whats wrong with this mix?

ballroot, why don't you shut the hell up and go away. You obviously have nothing worth a damn to contribute here so why waste your time? farewellending, I believe you've captured the type of sound that I think you're going for pretty well here. I agree with the others who say that it would be...

    building a isolation booth..please help...

Hey Rick. I'm in Beaverton. Wouldn't mind being in Coos Bay though - that's a nice area. :)

OnStage Stands. Musicians Friend's cheap stands.

I have one of those On-Stage stands and it works OK. It will hold up an LDC if you don't extend the boom completely. The counterweight idea is a good one - I'll have to try that. Before I got this one and my KMD stand, all I had was an old "Realistic" stand - now that one was truly a POS!

    wanted: midi interface!

If you're interested in a parallel port interface, I have an old MOTU PC-Midi Flyer that i'm not using. It's been sitting in a drawer for the last few years, and although it used to work fine for me on a Windows 98 system, I can't verify that it works with XP. You might want to research that...

    building a isolation booth..please help...

Hey Shellshock - I hate to state the obvious, but sometimes people get so discouraged when they run into a problem like this, that they overlook the simple solution. Now, I don't know where you live but I'm assuming it's some sort of apartment building? Why not talk to the landlord, and have...

    Acoustic Blues (Nylon String)...

Guess that just demonstrates how there is no magic formula to how you should do things. It can never hurt to try different types of mics on different sources and see what you come up with. In this case, the mic sounds great on this guitar, particularly on the rythm parts! Just an idea, but...

    Why The Price Difference?

I admit that seems like a lot to pay, and no I haven't tried any old Yamaha's - perhaps I should before i make a decision. I do have an old Hohner that I've had for years, but to be honest, it sounds like crap. I've mainly played electrics throughout my life, but at this time I want to try to...

What the hell is wrong with my computer?

If you have Windows XP, try clicking on Start | Control Panel, and look for something in there. For example, on the laptop I'm working on at the moment I have an icon in there entitled "Turtle Beach Audio Advantage". If I click on this, I get a special little program that configures different...

What the hell is wrong with my computer?

When you installed your soundcard drivers, did it install one of those 3rd-party control panel utilities. Sometimes those things will over-ride the windows control like the one you showed. Perhaps there's some weird setting in there telling it to send all output back into the input. Have you...

What the hell is wrong with my computer?

Hmm...Are you sure you don't have it set to play the click track both when recording and playing back? I don't know Acid, but there's an option for that in Sonar.

    Tascam US-122 - do i need monitors?

All the monitors I can recall seeing use a 1/4" connector - you should double check when you buy them however. As far as compatibility with your US-122, there's really no special requirements. Just make sure you look for "powered" monitors (otherwise you'll need a separate amp). Other than...

    Why The Price Difference?

Great responses guys. I'll have to check into those Estebans! Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for one to try.

    Tascam US-122 - do i need monitors?

The outputs on your US-122 require casbles with RCA connectors. Most powered studio monitors have 1/4" jacks. So for these you would need unbalanced 1/4" to RCA cables. Most inexpensive computer speakers have cables pre-attached with a single 1/8" stereo jack which plugs into the sound...

    Why The Price Difference?

So, I've been trying out a lot of different acoustic guitars lately, and the ones that have stuck out the most to me have been the Taylors. Their feel, ease of playablility and pristine sound have seemed consistently great with all the different models I've played. The only others that have...
