Recording next CD (acoustic guitar/vox, no drums/bass) at home...

Hey Jen, Vocals usually sound best in a dead room which is mainly the reason for recording vocals in an isolation booth. The foam on the wall absorbs alot of the sounds so you get just whats coming out of the singers mouth and not whats bouncing off the walls. If you are considering treating...

Does anyone else suffer from perfectionism?

I think someone up there hit the nail on the head. Most artist arent happy with their work but other people may view as perfect. In their eyes its far from perfect. Im not sure if this really helps me or not but its still a nice thought.

    Problem with automation

Gain plugin may work. The only way I can think of would be to raise and lower the gain of the actual wav file. There might be another way but this way will work.

    When your ears get overloaded/hot

You definitely get used to listening to the same song more then once. I not only have gotten use to it I almost enjoy listening to a song multiple times. If I find a new song I like I can play it up to 20-30 times in the next couple of days.

    Static occurs with fx

hmmm could be a problem with vista I hear its really no good for recording. Your computer seems to be fast enough to run plug ins so I dont think that is the problem. It wouldnt be the recording hardware if the tracks you record sound good before you put the effects on. Now the last one...

Does anyone else suffer from perfectionism?

I havent recorded any of my music for about 2 or 3 years. I play probably every night and every night I go to sleep thinking about my songs. I am afraid of recording my songs for fear of them not being the best that they can be. I want to be able to bring to life what I hear in my head but that...

    Convince me to go analog.

I doubt what you like from those old recordings is the tape saturation and compression. Its probably more of the live feel and old classic tube equipment. Im sure maybe some of it is the tape but youll be able to accomplish a nice sound if you just work harder.
