    How often do you practice?

I try to practice daily, but I sure don't spend as much time on playing that I would like to! Also, I'm playing for 9 years now, but I guess it doesn't show... A friend of mine taught me the basics, and I learned myself the rest! I would like to take lessons one day, but I recently started...

    beginning home studio

Hi Alan, Nice to see that I'm not the only Dutchy around here! I have a TASCAM 424 MKII, but I'm still searching for a half-decent drum-machine which will NOT launch me into techno-hardcore-house-heaven... but can actually play some natural-sounding drum-bits. In fact, I think I'll post this one...

    MIDI mixdown won't work

Hi there! I have a TASCAM 424 mkII and a PC with Cubase VST 24. I want to mixdown my songs (wich I recorded on the TASCAM) to my PC, so I can edit them a little and burn them on a CD. I know I can probably record to the PC direct, so without the TASCAM, but I'm fairly new to computer recording...

    Thanks!

Thanks for your comments! At $ 50,-, I'll give it a shot. I do hope they'll include a manual, because they didn't when I downloaded the demo. Thanks again! Dirk Demon

    Fruityloops? Anyone's fave flavor?

Hi everyone! I'm looking for software in wich I can record drums, is Fruityloops any good? I downloaded a demo, but it was all dance, techno and R&B-kind of stuff. I play acoustic and electric rock, is Fruityloops any good for it? At $ 49,- it seems like a good deal, the demo-version looks very...

    Best Overdrive pedal

I also use the amp's overdrive (Marshall Valvestate), but I also use the "Guv'nor", also from Marshall. I say sometimes since it has a very distinctive sound, it's actually a "one-trick-box". Got it cheap but there are many better pedals. Dirk Demon

ok - so how about a list of common EQ cuts/boosts

Thanks Ausrock! These kind of lists do come in handy for newbies like me! I was afraid this was a sonusman-like post again (what are the EQ-settings of the pros, which EQ-setting would make me a top-selling shitrich indiestar), but for guys like me these things sure are useful. Dirk Demon PS...

Digital mixers?? ..can you hear any difference?

The pros might correct me on this one, but I'd prefer the Mackie board. Personally I don't hear any difference (forgive my ignorant ears), and to me there's nothing like feeling real knobs. I just don't like clicking on an animated knob with the mouse. Do take this post with a grain of salt...

    IndieSessions course and evaluation

It's probably a scam, you want to know why? ALWAYS be aware of "Pay shitloads of bucks and receive a FREE...." It's not free! You paid for it, and way to much too. I mean, A&R guys get paid by the record company for listening to music, not by the musicians. But on the other hand, it could be...

    Fancy a lyric critique?

Hi Eurithmic! Really nice lyrics you got there, I especially liked We Cried. It's very recognizable, I sometimes feel the same. The lyrics themselves are very "rythmic", they have a good flow. It's hard to explain, since I'm not a native English speaker, but what I mean is that they don't...

I think he's mistaking you for Sonic Misfit... Anyway, this must be really bad if it upsets badgas, that's like Jesus sayin' "Goddammit!" Hope you get the point... Now can we please close this thread and forget about it? I agree with Badgas this thread is not representative for all homereccers...

    Please read and criticize

This inspired me to write a song about my first car, and how I had to let it go when it was too broke down to fix... Here it is: The car with Georgia plates Intro I’m a Georgian car with a history Read the coffe stains on my seat Take a smell of my upholstery And I’ll tell you ‘bout my...

    Tascam

Hmm... not sure about that, at least mine doesn't, but hey, if it works for you! Don't you just LOVE that feeling when you struggled endlessly and finally you just got it right? It's a rush... Good luck! (And good riddance to hiss) Dirk Demon

I don't like what I get inspired to write

Hey man! If you're well, let's say, more mature, you'd have lots of experiences! I mean, there are so much things you can write about when you're older (seems to me, I'm almost 23 so what the heck would I know): * Kids growing up * Back in the days-songs about memories * Make a song about how...

Listen to the Badgas, everyone. I thougth this forum was about criticising songs, not each others website. They are two completely different things, so don't go comparing them with each other. Now shake hands and make up, will you? Badgas PLEASE STAY MAN, WE NEED YOU!!!!!! Dirk Demon

Are both of your meters reading? You have to LED-lines on the right, they're for your headphones. Let's do this step by step. First, plug you bass in, let's say in the upper left jack. Switch your "buss"-switch to, yes, "buss". If you play your bass now you should see three signals, two on the...

Lifes greatest mystery...WHY DON'T GUITAR CABLES LAST?

I have the same problem... For my home studio I use really short cables, 1,5 M. max. There's no need for 15 m. cables, you'd only trip over them. Dirk Demon
