Want to learn to play blues guitar …..Online?

Yeah, I know, I'm just kidding; Clannad are fairly popular here. More significantly, though, what's with your aversion to W.B Yeats - the most important poet of the last hundred years?

Shhhh! I already tried to tell him that no real Irish people listen to Clannad, but he wouldn't believe me. Btw, Muttley, do you listen to much English/British folk? Y'know, Pentangle, Bert Jansch, Davy Graham, Anne Briggs and the like.

I presume you know the original version by Blind Willie McTell? His diction is so precise, and his tone so clear, that I was convinced it was a woman singing for a long time.

You don't have to take responsibility for the anything. In the interest of diplomatic relations, I, however, am willing to put my hands up and say, "Yes, Riverdance, Flatleydance, Lord of the Dance, Celtic Dance and Daniel O'Donnell were misjudged travesties."

Want to learn to play blues guitar …..Online?

No, they weren't. Still, poetic license is being invoked here. "I woke up this morning and Cromwell done raped my sister" probably wouldn't get as much radio play. Genius. :D We should probably enter into some sort of musical partnership. Forget Lieber/Stoller, we'll take on the world. I'll...

Want to learn to play blues guitar …..Online?

I can play the blues. Hell, I am the blues. Yes, I'm a middle class white kid, but you're forgetting something - I'm also Irish. And the Irish are the African-Americans of Europe. My people endured 800 years of bondage at the hands of the colonial oppressor, and that gives me a right - no, a...

Want to learn to play blues guitar …..Online?

Ah, W.C Handy, the great thief of popular African-American culture. He stole folk songs, notated them for string and brass sections, and laughed all the way to the bank. Interesting character. By 'other than nylon' do you mean steel strings? I presume you know the basic twelve bar...

    It's Not A Fender...

I'm surprised by this - are they really that bad? I mean, they have a reputation - amongst certain people - of being unbelievably sought after.

    It's Not A Fender...

As far as I know, Fender have sent cease and desist letters to people selling guitars with strat/tele headstocks. Then again, as Light says, Fender have already made their cut if it's a licensed product, so that might change things. Why not just buy a paddle headstock neck (they're usually...

    Lap Steel Opinions

Yep, that's it. Nice sounding little steel. I'd start there, if I were you. Btw, they appear on ebay all the time for a buy it now price of 50 dollars. They're made under Jager/Rogue/Galveston names now.

What are the best guitar websites?

Another thought, wbcsound - Have you considered reviewing one of the 85 dollar Squier bullets yet? I hear the initial run had truss rod issues, but that the problem has now been sorted out. Also, what about buget acoustics? It seems to me (and this is a very general statement, I admit :D)...

They have a new baritone model that has just been released, as far as I know. It's under 300 bucks, too. Are you mainly focussing on newly released gear? If not, then a round-up of Danelectro's cheap pedals might be worthwhile - they have a couple of great pieces of kit, such as the Fish and...

What are the best guitar websites?

I'm a member over there, and I take the point about Deb - it can be a terrifying experience posting a query, purely because if you put it in the wrong place you'll get a very curt message telling you not to fuck up again. However, she generally does a good job.

    "Vamp"

Yeah, vampe is Middle English, although, while it refers to footwear, I'm not sure if it refers to 'sock.' It's a cobbler's term, used to refer to the leather covering a certain portion of shoes. It's also a verb - "to vamp" means to stitch something together (in this case, parts of leather)...

Yeah, Bruce Bennett tore him a new one. Then again, have you seen Bruce's current range of guitars? Not for everyone, perhaps.

Hey, I've checked out your site a number of times. Would you consider writing anything on Danelectro (both guitars and pedals)?

    Bridge Pin question

Thanks Muttley, that clears it up. And for the record, Jerry Donahue advises standard Fender ferrules on the lower four strings, but custom brass replacements on the B and E. Stops them sounding too shrill, apparently.
