Mine was the AT3525. At the time I wasn't even sure what I was looking for, I had a budget and I had to stick to it. 15 years later I still use it from time to time on finger picked acoustic guitar and sometimes I'll pull it out for certain singers backing vocals.
Yes, there is some Bright room/Reverb Room on on the snare and toms. No compression whatsoever, pretty raw. I like your idea "compress the snot out of them."
Back before I had any kind of recording gear, whatever band I was in at the time would have to find a place to record our stuff. It was always a huge struggle to get the guy/studio owner to use any kind of reverbs on drums (I'm primarily talking about the snare and toms) I never understood...
I'm about to purchase the KSM44 (I love that mic!!)
However, I've always been a fan of Audio Technica and have many of them. Question, does anybody have any experience with the AT4060? It's a ribbon, I know, but hell or high water I'm getting myself one or the other for Christmas. As I said I...
Assuming your 57 is in fine working order, something is happening between the mic and your console/interface.
Even at a moderately low amplifier volume you should be getting a strong enough signal. Have you checked all the links in the chain?
If you can't figure it out, I'll pop by in a few...
Just yesterday, I received a call from a guy who spoke with extremely broken English. Middle eastern broken English. We went back and forth for the better part of ten minutes, we (for the most part) got nowhere. I managed to make out that he wanted to record "E-Hop"..?? Huh?
It was very clear...
This thread seems to be stuck on feet. Not my intention:facepalm:
What about drinks near the console, clients without direction, somebody trying to pocket a mic.. there are many less than happy scenarios.
YES.
The last thing I want is to see sweaty barefoot footprints on my beautiful wood floors. A woman wouldn't be as bad because.. it just isn't as bad, I guess.
The reason I ask:
From time to time you, or somebody else WILL drop one of your baby's.. I have had a few MIC's fall/drop from various heights over the years (almost in slow motion while I yell at God, "WHY!?!")
An AT4033 from 7FT up on to my hardwood floor. No deleterious effects to report...
HA!!:laughings: Well I don't know about the feet, but the wet wipe tasted horrible! (rim shot):D
I agree, nightmare may be a rather strong word for what happened. Alas..
I run my 600 SQ FT home studio out of half of my basement (it's all walled off and very much its own little world) Besides recording my own two bands I also record other locals. A few years ago a guy who has recorded many songs at my place needed to bring in this one particular well known bass...
The Roland RH50's are pretty good and about $50 - $65. A little to crispy for some, but the price is right and its a quality product for the home recording folks looking to get a lot of bang for a reasonable buck.
