    New Tascam 388 headphones crackling

So update on the repair of the crackling headphones...the tech said " We cleaned the entire inside and when we saw a component that needed to be replaced we did". He would not give me any specifics. I am hoping this will finally be over on Monday. It's been there for 3 weeks. The crackle IS...

Tascam RC-71 strain relief insert, anyone?

Nice! That looks great. Ill PM you, but for forum info is it a hard operation? Would I have to take off and re-solder all the connections or is that little band in the middle of the insert made so you can just slip one side on and then the other without removing cables?

    Tascam 388 out to computer

I'll be transferring individual tracks direct off the tape or pgm buss outs. Going into the 002 rack. Anyone know what cable to use and if I might run into input problems with the 002? :guitar:

Have you ever "practiced" writing songs ?

Yep, half the war is just getting yourself to sit down and keep focusing. I've noticed that if I can do that and wait out the rough periods there is always some unexpected gold waiting to be discovered. Those gold moments are the best of the BEST.

    New Tascam 388 headphones crackling

I will be sure to ask. They really seemed like they still had to test everything to find the problem. Time will tell.

Will do. They also said they would look through the whole piece for anything that looks like it needs repair. Do you think I should get it refurbished while its there? What would that entail?

    Tascam 388 remotes..

I'm looking for a remote for my 388 and it seems the Tascam RC-71, Tascam RC-70, and Tascam RC-90 should work (even with the RC-90's extra rec mute button). Is this correct? Do all these remotes acknowledge the CUE and load function when reverse is pressed? Thanks. p.s. Any others that might work?

When I dropped it off the guy mentioned a possible bad transistor, so sweetbeats might be right on target. I'll be sure to give a detailed report when they get back to me.
