Hi Guys, I'm going to be taking a trip to Europe and want to bring some reels of tape for recording over there. Some are blank and some have some music on them. It is the Quantegy 407 on 7" reels. I've got about 6 reels. Do you know if they could potentially be damaged by the airport scanners...

Yea exactly. They are fun machines too. It's just a flavor choice. I was thinking about going 1/2" but like the 388 flavor for my current project. Totally subjective though.

Ha. Thanks from ebay, right? I always wondered about that. The guy has everything but it's pricey. Yea I think for the 388 whats really important and what should determine the price difference between $350 and $1000 is the condition. They are not cheap to repair....and if the head goes, game over.

In the L.A. area they are going for around $900 on craigslist etc, but yea those sellers are dreaming...

It's a great forum and I think everyone's threads are welcome here. Some people do enjoy talking about individual problems, even multiple problems on the same kind of machine.
