i like a similar sound and use a strat too...everyone else has already given some good ideas but the setup i use is: strat, into wah-wah, into big muff, into music man 65, into cab with 12" JBL D-120 and i feel like it produces that "classic rock" vibe

in addittion to the other good comments i just got Izotone Trash which does a passable of imitating different sounds (i have a Music Man-65 and i was able to create a preset that sounded pretty similar). after you've got things mic'd and eq'd it might be a good "finishing move"

well, to some extent (and you're probably already aware) you do want a larger space so that the sound isn't getting too colored and you're not getting a ton of reflections...so i think the untreated aspect is a good one. i just got some studiophile av-40s for christmas and really like the results.

thanks kerrio and matt... this would just be an instrument mix. i moved the opening guitar in a bit from the left and kept the guitar volumes down. overall, i feel like this opened up quite a few inequities with the snare and bass so i did some slight eq'ing with them. i'm not sure what i think...

i'm thinking to get the sound to my recordings that i want i should make the switch to analog. my plan was to record onto tape and then output the tracks individually into the computer. if i do that am i defeating the purpose of recording analog in the first place? i had looked at a few...
