The short answer is yes. Any amp would be a lot better than a mixer. If you're really broke, and handy with electronics you can make one of thoose cigarette pack amps. But if you have the buy for the orange crush, I say buy it.

So far, I'm loving the reverb on some of my intrumentals..... The reverb kinda sucks on my voice...... but it makes the snare sound a lot better.
