The cheapest option I would recommend to get your much better results would be am sm7b, FMR Audio RNP and RNC. Finally, build some homemade acoustic panels. Overall investment if items are used, around $700 but will take your game to a whole to level.
But to be honest, after that level I...
What do you consider a "reasonable amount of money"? Are you looking for hardware compression or would you be ok with DSP or plug-ins bundled in? Are you only using the comp for tracking?
I upgraded to a RME Babyface to years ago from a Focusrite PRO24DSP and the sound seems so much more full. Also, I've always run on PC and I had repeated issues with the Focusrite. I have never and I mean NEVER in two years had any kind of issue with the RME. Love it and not planning on...
Currently I have an LA-610SE (NOS Tubes/Cinemag Transformers) running into an API 525 while tracking vox. I only use the T4 on the LA-610 for very mild compression while tracking vox...I don't use the compression on the 525 at all since I find its far too easy to get out of hand with...
Hi All,
I'm have Superior Drummer 2 and I'm wondering if there is a way to trigger the sounds without a module. I'd like to have a kit for the feel but could save a fair amount of cash if I don't need to buy a module as well.
Thanks,
ROK
Forgot to say thanks for the response Miroslav.
After some digging on Rupert Neve's website, they recommend that the comp goes bedore the tape sim. I suppose that answers my question. Although I do have another question ;) Would a tape sim offer mild compression on its own? I read online...
Or would you forego the comp all together while tracking? I understand the tape sim can act as mild compression on its own. I would only be using it for vocals, acoustic guitar, clean electric guitar, cajon and shakers.
Hi All,
Seriously looking at picking up a Portico 542. When tracking I have a ribbon mic to a ribbon pre then to an opto comp. Would you put the 542 before or after the comp?
Yes, I understand that many would rather commit to this once the track is down but I prefer a tasteful bit of...
The issue is that I don't want to secure anything to the walls...absorbers, bass traps, etc. So I'm wondering if I built large free standing panels (4" thickness) that would be very close to the sound source (i.e. tightly around my speakers, desk and listening position), would that be suitable...
UPDATE...NEED GUIDANCE PLEASE!!!
So basically, I'm f$cked. In either space the natural reverb sounds amazing while tracking thru headphones but come mix time the monitors create so much reverb that everything sounds so far away. I do NOT want to treat the entire space as its too huge and...
Thx. I was hoping it would save me the time of tracking my vox twice. All great feedback...I'll mess around with it but will likely stick with what I'm doing now.
Hi All,
First I'd like to say that I have a home one room project studio...not looking to get into the whole idea of treating everything or having seperate rooms for recording, mixing, vocal booth etc. I just moved into a new two level loft style condo and looking for studio placement...
