yeah...i have a 4 track that has 2 XLR inputs and 4 1/4" inputs. so i'm using the 2 direct XLR's, i have 1 hi-z mic already, and i just need to mod the other XLR mic so i can plug it into 1/4". just a temporary solution.
thanks for the answer!
one more random question: i have two 1/4" "stereo...
i know that to go from lo-z to hi-z efficiently that you need an impedance matcher. do most XLR -> 1/4" cables match impedance, or is that only for hi-z to hi-z operation? (basically, i'm buying a lo-z XLR cable and a Little Imp for every mic, and was just wondering if it is necessary.)
i transfer songs track by track from my Tascam 414mkII to my computer. i turn all the other tracks to 0 volume and just record a single track. i do that for each track. but, i can always sort of hear the loud parts of the other tracks in the background. when it's all together, you can't really...
i use 2 huge old jensen speakers and a 30 year old hitachi stereo reciever for monitors, and they work pretty well for me. we had the stereo already and got the speakers for free at the dump when someone was going to throw them away because the cloth screen was torn! haha. yea for trash!
cables
ok. so, now i need to get cables and such. i've read that lo-z is best for recording. however, i can't find lo-z xlr to 1/4" cables...anybody know where to get them?
acid doesn't allow this, plus i'd have to get a multi-input interface module, which would cost even more money, and i'm a cheapo! haha
one more question i had: what is the best/cheapest soundproofing material? just something to hang on the walls to prevent sound from bouncing everywhere...
i can do unlimited tracks on my PC. i'm not looking to double my budget to get a result that i can already achieve. i just want to know if my mic setup makes sense, and if it should theoretically sound fine. i don't mind taking a little extra time to transport tracks individually from the...
i'm setting up a small studio in my basement for a basic 4 piece rock studio. the room has about a 7.5' ceiling-tiled ceiling, carpeted floor, and drywall walls. it's not really that big. here is the setup i am considering:
2 Nady SP-5's going into a (4 track) Tascam PortaStudio 414 mkII (1 for...
