Well, picked them up earlier today. Instantly set them up to check tuning and have a play. Man these things are incredible! I'm loving the tone of the floor tom and the kick in particular. Considering the FT is a 14x14 it has a lot of meat to it. The kick sound is to die for, it's a 22x18, the...
That's just it, I don't know! I've seen everything from Brich, Bubinga to Araucaria. I know they're from Brazil.
The kit cost him the best part of 2k when he bought it, I'm kind of thinking it's a bit of a bargain and it does sound really nice!
Some pics of the kit.
I'm currently playing a...
Hi, guys and gals. Looking for a bit of feedback on a mix if you don't mind please. It's my bands version of Gimme All Your Lovin' by ZZ Top.
Everything was recorded separately then brought together at mix down, it's taken some doing to get it this far. Let me know what you think!
Thanks...
I've used it before, was given a live recording to mix and the drums were awful. I basically re-did the entire thing with samples but kept them at a level that didn't make it obvious, wanted to try and keep that live feel to it.
I actually came very close to just redoing the drums myself...
Monitor Audio BX8's, got a pair for $150 in a sale. Need an additional different set though, they're a little lacking in the mids for me. But between those, some headphones and a grot box of serious epicness, I get fairly decent results.
I'm only just starting my mic collection, so don't laugh....
A Thomann branded kick mic - can't remember the exact name but this was my first mic, I love the thing!
Samson 7kit drum mic set

SE1A matched stereo pair

Audio Technica ATM710
and finally a 3 pack of behringer...
The time has come to sell my Tascam DP 32, this is the original model with the CD drive and MIDI. But I have no idea what to ask for it, was wondering if anyone here could give me some kind of guidline????
Thanks.
Go here.
A massive amount of songs for you to practice mixing with, I've used it A LOT myself.
Website is run by a guy called Mike Senior, author of Mixing Secrets for the small studio, highly recommended by the way.
Thanks for the feedback. I had noticed the lack of low energy, I have since adjusted it. The band are after a sound that is close to their live sound (demo purposes etc) which is what I've tried to do. I'm not finished with it yet, I know that, just needed some direction.
But I do have to say...
So, last night, I had my first 'gig' recording a live cover band. I used a Tascam DP 32. Fitting the band into the 8 channels was a challenge, but it went something like this.....
Vocals - feed from the PA desk. There are 3 people in the band that do vocals, but I couldn't tie up 3 inputs to...
I'm pretty sure the crossover is part of the final multiband compression. The crossover is adjusting the frequency range of each band.
I'm gonna have to dig out the instruction manual I think.
edit: Yep, that's exactly what it is.
Completely off topic, but I had to say something.
Those little £20 helicopters have ended up costing me over £1500 lol. I went from a crappy little contra rotor to a belt cpx (lol). What a mountain to climb that was! I'm limited on space so a 450 is about as big as I can go, I freakin love my...

I know I'm new around here, but I've spent a long ass time on forums (admin/moderator etc), if there's one thing I know, it's the admin CP on a vBulletin powered forum lol.
