    Using With Cool Edit Pro

well there is something called the fast track usb by m-audio. and it seems to come with software that emulates effects (and i'm guessing distortion). it's msrp is 130, but you can get it for 99 on ebay. it can also handle 1 xlr mic if you ever choose to buy one.

    Using With Cool Edit Pro

recording direct from your amp will sound pretty bad (i know, i had to do that for a long time). cleans sound fine, distortion sounds harsh. what do you have available in terms of budget? for $200, you can obtain a mobilepre usb by m-audio and a $50 shure pg57 mic (considering you're on...

    Laptop Recording

usb suits me just fine. as long as you have a usb 2 port (which you probably do if the laptop is fairly new) then its fast enough. the usb card is better (i think) for the purposes of recording because you can plug in xlr mics or use 1/4" line in.

    Laptop Recording

i would recommend a mobilepre usb by maudio since you're using a laptop. like the title suggests, it hooks up via usb and you can either hook your guitar cord directly into it or use an xlr mic (such as sm57 by shure). i actually have one that i'm thinking about selling that is basically in...

    mobilepre usb vs delta 1010lt

Hi everyone, I've recently become interested in replacing my mobilepre with a delta1010lt pci card. I know that pci offers better performance (and slightly better quality) than usb methods, but does anyone have any insight into how much faster? both claim to be zero latency (or close to it)...

available: mobilepre usb (mine) just wanted to see if anyone is interested in obtaining such a device. they normally go for around $150 on ebay, but i like making stuff available on boards first. i like it, and it suits me just fine with 2 channels, but i think i want the delta 1010lt, also...

    simplifying win2k - disabling services

yeah, that makes sense. one of the profiles on that link you provided had a gaming category where a lot of services were shut off, i was asking about tweaking according to those guidelines. aside from doing these services, is there anything else in the OS that I can adjust to make more...

    simplifying win2k - disabling services

thanks i also found http://www.techspot.com/tweaks/win2k_services/index.shtml but it requires a bit more reading. i'm going to assume my recording system will be comparable to a gaming system, is that a good assumption to make?

    simplifying win2k - disabling services

Hi everyone, I'm new to posting but have been hanging around for a long time, just trying to absorb all this information about home recording. Well I just recently moved to a new house and have a recording room. I have my old PC that I hope to use just for recording. It's a P3 450mhz, with...

    my first song ever

Well this is my first song I've ever fully written and mixed. I think it's ok for a first try, but obviously I can improve my sound. http://home.comcast.net/~fgpereira/smile.mp3 The problem with the recording is that this was recorded by a virtual band, the drummer lives a ways away from me...
