Problem with WDM drivers for Delta

I just wanted to confirm that this problem is not limited to NT-based OSes. I've duplicated the results found by S2K and bdemenil in n-Track under Windows 98SE. Under "Very High Buffering", the lag was about 2ms. Under "Very Low Buffering", it was about 15ms. Hope this helps in some way. :)

    DMP3 Arrived! Woohoo!

Just for clarification, the dimensions posted above are for the box it comes in. The unit itself is like 8.5"x5"x2". I think you could fit two side by side in a rack drawer.

    DMP3 Arrived! Woohoo!

I'm glad you dig it. I sure like mine. I think my next preamp might be the DIY two channel tube pre in the new TapeOp. Looks pretty sweet. Have fun with that thing man!

For those of you who long to be a "pro" engineer...

Enh.... I shouldn't have posted on this thread to begin with. My apologies to everyone for dragging out the dead horse again.

Bullsh*t. You've said this about me before. I replied that I stand by what I said. You went back and deleted what you said about me. If you've got proof of this, cite it or shut the f*ck up. Sorry for wasting everyone's time with this.

    Case fan air flow question

Not on your video card, but next to it. They make cards that fit in a PCI slot with a fan on it.

    Popup ad for 24bit version?

Hey Tom, It worked! Did a fresh install of the new version (3.1.2), and all is now well in Lame Manor. Thanks for the suggestion!

    Case fan air flow question

Yeah... Then there's water cooling. It's expensive, but it is totally silent. On that amdmb.com message board I linked to above, there was a guy who stuck a 55 gallon drum of water in the dirt under his house for his water cooling system. All for a few extra mHz. :)

    Case fan air flow question

You should be able to get a couple of good fans for $30. As far as fan speed goes, I think that's more a function of the size of the fan and the voltage applied to it. Just make sure you get the right size fans. Here's a good forum for learning about these kinds of things...

    Case fan air flow question

I believe those are power supplies you're talking about. I wouldn't worry about those unless the one you have is too loud for your needs or has insufficient wattage.

    44 or 66...

If you don't want to buy a mixer right away, you could always route the output of whatever recording software you're using to the other sound card instead of the Delta. It would sound like crap for monitoring, but when you burn a CD, it would be better. It's a temporary solution at best though.

That's a good idea Tom. Thanks.

    Popup ad for 24bit version?

I just updated the drivers for my Delta 1010, and all of a sudden n-Track is spamming me to buy the 24-bit version. A window pops up interrupting playback telling me I need to upgrade. I thought it might be a setting that got changed when I installed the new driver, and sure enough, it was...

    Case fan air flow question

Sorry Me Myself, I was just taking the opportunity to spout off about what a geek I am. There's nothing worse than a geek that doesn't know he's a geek. You'll probably be fine with one in the front and one in the back. If you're concerned about noise, these guys have a pretty good...

    Case fan air flow question

I'm not sure this is what RWhite meant, but there's actually a whole case-modding scene out there for this kind of stuff. You can just get a Dremmel and go to town! One popular mod is to mount a "blowhole" fan in the top of the case. It's a really good way to release the hot air that...

    hollow bodies?

hard to play sitting down? Ovations are near impossible to play standing unless you have absolutely no stomach at all. That plus they always sound miserably tinny, no matter how good the sound guy might be.... Well, what I meant to say is that they are utter crap unless you spend $3000+ on one...

    hollow bodies?

I don't personally care for Ovations, as the backs are made of plastic and are rounded off, which makes them difficult to play sitting down. I dig that Chet Atkins solidbody acoustic thing though. Especially the nylon string version. The finish quality on the Epi version was a little...
