    Traben bass guitars... Thoughts?

Just looking for meat world opinions on these. I'm looking at this un... Array Limited - Traben Basses only in a 5 string. Seems like one of their claims to fame is the size of the bridge and how it affects tone and sustain. Anyone play one of these? What were/are your thoughts? much...

Monitors make that big of a difference

My thoughts are to treat your room first (if that's possible at this stage in your game) with that $350 you've got. Monitors are going to help, no doubt. But those same monitors in a treated room are gonna help a lot more. Check out some DIY bass traps and see if you can swing that. Not as...

People speak of room acoustics being imporant for MIXING, but what about RECORDING?

Seems to me that if you're getting a lot of "room" in the mic, try a different mic. Like a dynamic. Maybe a beta 58. Real tight pattern that will help reject the room. worth a thought. :)

    Basic questions about monitors

also keep in mind that you're gonna have to learn those monitors in your room. Doesn't really matter how they sound in the store. What counts is in your room. Figure on makin some crappy mixes , play those mixes in your truck, boombox, house stereo etc and take note of how much it changed from...

So I'm looking at modules and triggers...

From listening to you guys and all the stuff I've read about midi and plugins, I'm kinda kickin myself for shying away from midi years ago. "separate the performance from the sound" ... I believe you're on to something there, Jay. switching hats from basher to engineer... It also looks like...

So I'm looking at modules and triggers...

no, I think I get ya. The subkick analogy was more pointing towards the actual signal that's made by the cone moving. I could see that signal going into a module and being able to dial in a tom or a snare or a tuba blast. I was doing some reading last night on all this (triggers etc) and...

So I'm looking at modules and triggers...

And Thank you for that vote of confidence, good sir. :D Believe it or not, that makes sense. Kind of along the lines of that subkick I made. Just sendin a signal only this one has tweakable sounds. Much thanks man. :drunk:

which in itself, would make this totally worth it. :p "just about any one..." :laughings: considering who you were writing to....did you type that with a straight face? :) seriously...thanks guys. I'm thinkin I just need to get more savvy with midi stuff (where, when, how). That in...

Gonna have to digest that a bit. It does sound like a lot of steps but since it works...:thumbs up: good to know. also good to know. maybe some light at the end of this tunnel.

So I'm looking at modules and triggers...

ahh.... this sheds some light. Thank you gentlemen. This whole process seems like it'd be a lot easier if I stepped into this century and set up a computer in my room. :p I like the idea of being able to pick and choose which kick or snare etc I think might fit the tune better. I also like...

So I'm looking at modules and triggers...

Particularly the Alesis DM10 with some triggers. Not that I know anything about this module... just reviews and that Alesis seems to have a pretty good name. I'm looking at live application as well as tracking. I figured I'd leave my kit miked up so I'd still get my hi-hats and cymbals thru...

Need a budget LD condenser, sensitive but not TOO sensitive. Thoughts?

MXL V67G. No multiple patterns but this is a pretty damned good mic especially at $100. I've used it on vocals and acoustic guitar with good results other than I can't sing or play worth a shit. :) worth a look...
