    Tape to Tape Transfer

I'd be in a more complex situation introducing the digital element, as my only digital option is a stand-alone CD recorder.

    Tape to Tape Transfer

Thanks for the offer! I've found a local studio with a 1" machine, so I'm in touch with them but still waiting to schedule something ... so not sure if that's gonna work out. Another member might have an option for me for the 1/2" to 1/4"-8.

    Tape to Tape Transfer

Hello All, I know this is a long shot but ... anyone have both a 1" machine (8-track or 16-track), AND a 1/4" Fostex 8-track to help me out with some tape to tape transfers? Also, I'm also looking for a 1/2" (4-track or 8-track) to 1/4" Fostex 8-track transfer, if anyone can help out there...

Problem shipping tape machines (incident report)

Generally speaking, you as the seller are likely responsible for the damage because you made the deal with the shipper and sent it out. That said, depending on the Reverb/Paypal situation (and what info you listed in the Item), you are not automatically responsible for return shipping charges...

    The First "Porta"-Studio?

Other than possibly the preamps, I can't imagine finding much use for it.

    The First "Porta"-Studio?

I'm thinking late '60s (maybe early '70s) too ... the chickenhead knobs and rotary-type controls for the transport sort of indicate that. If it is from the '60s, this thing is historically significant and ahead of it's time by several years in it's use of 1/4" tape for true 4-track recording...

    The First "Porta"-Studio?

Well, this recorder/mixer has the a model name "Music Master 800". So I'd guess it's at least a prototype. I mean, Chamberlins were all homebrew, even though he sold tons of them. I initially googled it and found no reference to this beast in any way shape or form. Though I'd guess it's older...

Teac Model 5B Mixing Console Tour

I mixed all the albums in my signature link on a Model 5 (and recorded many of them through one). I went through a number of other mixers (some costing quite a bit more), but never found as appropriate a sound/vibe as the Model 5. This may sound like a crude comparison, but I would describe...

Help! Tascam tsr-8 or teac 80-8

I think if you're going for "vintage vibe" and a more brute-force machine, the 80-8 would be better. If you want a cleaner, more "modern" analog sound, the TRS-8 might be a better option.

Help! Tascam tsr-8 or teac 80-8

Why is he asking $200 more for the 80-8? Typically the 80-8 would sell for less than the TRS-8, though I would personally choose an 80-8 over a TSR-8.

Delay instead of reverb some thoughts

I've always found it to be necessary to use both reverb and delay (for separate functions) to get the type of ambience I'm looking for. I'm not sure you could ever get delay to sound like reverb, or vice versa.

    National Audio Video

Well, personally I think “that analog tape sound” can mean many things to many people. And I would agree that most people are thinking of an end product that included the use of the big old tape decks of the golden years. But I would take it a step further and say they are listening to the sum...
