I have a little 15 watt Spider III that stays upstairs for learning music. Low volume, slightly bigger than a lunch box, and easy to use.
I found a 75 watt Spider II a couple of years ago. It lives at the rehearsal space with the main band I work with. They'll damage my good gear if I'm not...
To me, the Roland VS series recorders weren't the easiest to operate when I tried one. I still have my Tascam and Fostex digital recorders, and can do most necessary functions on both units without opening the manual.
I'm a complete idiot, yet somehow I managed to learn Reaper. Recording a mono...
I am not a recording professional, by any stretch of the imagination. Lately, any recording I do is for demos for work (shopping for gigs). I love the Vintage Warmer, and have found (in my limited experience and lack of ability) the Vintage Warmer can be extremely useful on the Master Buss if...
I've been using Reaper for two years now and absolutely love it.
For me, it's been a great program. Sound On Sound magazine had a recent issue with lots of info about Reaper. As well, there are a few instructional books out. I have "Home Recording For Beginners". It's very helpful.
Here's a...
Yup. Look at Toontrack's distributors for good deals. I'ma big fan of audioMIDI.com.

hueseph's answer was THE BEST answer I have seen to any thread like this for a while. If you can wait it out, save your money and put together a decent amount toward a useful preamp in the $600.00 - $1000.00 price range. Take time to do some research and see what your needs are, and which pre...
IMHO, the clean channel sounds better than the dirty channel on my amp. I mean...the dirty channel sounds cool and all, but anything past a certain point is just mushy on the dirty channel. That being said, when I run the dirty channel with less overdrive ("Drive" control), my TS-9 makes that...
I have the Fender 212R. I had to find something powerful enough to handle a loud rock band when faced with gigs and no Mesa Boogie.
I really didn't have anything else here that was powerful enough. I'd read mixed reviews about the 212R. Found one at a local shop for roughly $225.00 in like-new...
This will be one of those times I would suggest trying one of tech21nyc's Trademark amps. You'd probably get better results from the trademark 30 or Trademark 60 than the smaller Trademark 10. Granted, they're NOT a tube amp, but they're not modeling amps either.
I normally use a Boss GT-8 for...
I had a Randall RG-80 that was somewhat useful, though it had a nasty buzz when sitting dormant between sets.
I still have a tech21nyc Trademark 60 I use for rehearsals and really small gigs. For a solid state amp, it's VERY cool.
I used older silverface Fenders years ago. Had a Pro Reverb & Twin Reverb that I liked a lot, and a Princeton Reverb that I regret selling still.
Switched over to a Mesa Boogie Mk III and have been extremely satisfied.
I will say I miss my old Princeton Reverb. Port City Amplification makes a...
I'm looking for a decent quality mic pre amp. I'd prefer a DMP3 (I see more favorable comments on that unit in that price range) but could be open to some other suggestions if offered.
Unfortunately, money is tight...so I thought I'd post it here before I went looking elsewhere.
Thanks,

Can't say it's not recommended. Sound on Sound magazine put out a "Smart Guide" recently. Reaper has it's own section (pp 140-156), just like Cubase, ProTools, Reason, Sonar and some others. Got some useful info there, too.
