    Cab to pair with Sansamp

I imagine that with a little tinkering, you might be able to make it happen. I've wondered how some of these overdrive pedals I have would work in that regard. maybe it's time to do some more experimenting. :)

    Cab to pair with Sansamp

The fuzz sound that you hear Robert Sledge playing on those albums is pretty simple to get. Probably just a fuzz pedal before the preamp should get that sound. Sledge is a local. Before he joined Ben Folds Five, he ran a local group called Toxic Popsicle. That guy is actually a monster of a...

    Cab to pair with Sansamp

It takes time to figure out the best way to use your equipment. Unfortunately, there is no substitute. Best of luck on finding what works.

    Cab to pair with Sansamp

It doesn't complicate things if you're using a computer to record with. You could set it up like so... Bass > SansAmp > Interface > Computer ...and use an amp simulator software of some sort as a VST on the channel you're recording. Disable/bypass the amp and any effects on the VST, but leave...

Bass/Guit DI solutions- what do you use?

I had good luck with this setup yesterday. Telecaster > SansAmp Classic > Alesis 3630 compressor > Peavey Q215 EQ > Xenyx502 mixer > Delta 44 interface > Amplitube 2 (cabinets only, stomp boxes & amp bypassed) in Reaper Maybe you could try something similar...BASS > BASS POD > INTERFACE > DAW...

Arguing with myself: effects pedals vs. mult-ieffect.

If you can get the sounds you want from the multi-fx pedal, go for it. If you do the homework, you can make some nice sounds with lots of the available gear out there. I think what CaptGoldenEars said is true...that standalone pedals DO sound better, but ultimately you have to do your own...

    Tone Test

Thank you. I'm going to post some others up throughout the next week or two. I've been wondering if I hear what everyone else hears on stuff I record.

    Tone Test

Got some demo stuff to do for gigs this week and next. Can't mic amps currently, so I've been fooling with the following signal path... Telecaster > SansAmp Classic > Alesis 3630 compressor > Peavey Q215 EQ > Xenyx502 mixer > Delta 44 interface > Amplitube 2 (cabinets only, stomp boxes &...

Thanks for the heads-up, Terfyn. I still have my MR16HD. I've stayed pretty steady with Reaper for the time being. Been waiting for an opportunity to start using my Fostex again, maybe record with it then move files over to Reaper for manipulation, mixing and mastering. Much appreciated, -j

    Somewhere Over The Rainbow

Thanks for the input, robgreen. The first attempt at a mix was rushed. I ran the drums as a stereo track with very little manipulation. It showed. Went back and slightly compressed and tamed the bass, panning it dead center. Placed the guitar dead center as well, then copied the track...

    Why did you start singing?

Same thing as idol1957 said...Mom told me once when I was a teenager that good guitar players are dime a dozen, and if I wanted to work I'd better learn to sing. I didn't make the cut on my first audition when I was 18 for that very reason. After that, I learned to sing. I'm not the biggest fan...

Bass/Guit DI solutions- what do you use?

I'm going with ranjam on SansAmp stuff. Just posted a recording I did last night using their ParaDriver DI for bass and SansAmp Classic for guitar. I ran some cabinet emulators as well, but these both sounded great to me. I also use a Line 6 POD XT Live for recording. I recently purchased the...

    Somewhere Over The Rainbow

Finally getting back to recording some. Last night, I recorded some jazz. Guitar: '82 Squier Telecaster > SansAmp Classic > Behringer Xenyx502 > interface > Reaper Bass: Ibanez SR-506 5-string -> SansAmp ParaDriver DI -> interface->Reaper Drums: Superior Drummer...

    Clean Amp

Spent years playing Fender silverface stuff. They generally had useful clean sounds, especially the Princeton Reverb or Pro Reverb. Wish I still had both, at times. My Mesa Boogie mk III actually has a very balanced clean sound. I've been impressed by how versatile this amp is time and time again.

    Drum VST

Go check out EZ Drummer. I mentioned EZ Drummer to a local friend that wanted to record something other than the drum module sounds in his electronic kit. He seemed satisfied. Might be worth checking out. Good luck. Hope you find something that works for you.

Adding VSTi effect to channel causes Reaper to exit.

Hmmm. Haven't seen that before. Not familiar with this VSTi, either. Did you try posting this over on the Reaper Forum? Those guys can be extremely helpful.

Adding VSTi effect to channel causes Reaper to exit.

+1 Same here. What VSTi are you loading? I haven't had problems with VSTi's...other than dreading the ReWire procedure for Reason.
