This kind of depends on what space you have in your room. What size is it? Are the corners open space? Small spaces and square rooms are the worst for controlling low end. The room modes can make it virtually impossible the get rid of peaks and nulls. That does not mean it can't be improved...

I have had great results with the preamps in my two Steinberg UR824's. I do use a Vintech Audio X73i as my sweet channel for basically everything that gets tracked after drums. And use it on snare when recording a whole kit. I also have used a Behri ADA8000 to get to 24 tracks if needed while...

There is the biggest part of the actual 'feel' of electronic or programmed drums. Nothing compares to an actual player on a kit, in a room. When one programs drums, there isn't that human factor that exists in the real world. And even programing drums created by a drummer, it just does not...

I seem to be finding lately that I only use eq to fix more things than for actual tone shaping. That being said, a good preamp in definitely helps with some -dare I say 'warmth', but not sure it is not necessarily that much different from a interfaces preamp in. But I don't have a shit ton...
