    grip posture

I have to ask how it is dated?!?! He'll wipe Adrian Young all over the place any day of the week. I'm not even a Castronovo fan, but the guy is bad as hell. Tim

    Reaper vs. N-track

Okay, so where do I get Reaper from? I've been away from recording for quite a while. I had N-track for ages - the version i have is probably from 2001 or so- and I never upgraded it. I liked it, and my PC recording is really minimal, but I am interested in this. Tim

    Syncaset Channel 4 Dead?

Hi, yes - one of those could be the culprit. Anything that has to do with the channel 4 path that is going bad or is intermittent could cause the problem you are having. Congrats on buying the Syncassette 234! My lead singer during the mid 90's had one for years and I always felt that was one...

Getting he drums to fit in the mix like the Beatles'...

First you would need to use thin drumheads on the toms. I doubt the close mice'd the toms I think they normally mic'ed the kick, and an overhead or two was probably it., and you wouldn't want to EQ the drums too much. See, what happened back then was - they had really good sounding Mic preamps...

    What triggers do you use?

AMEN! I was jut about to reply with the same line of thought. The signal translation is essentially limite to 0 (or OFF)-127(Full strength/ON) steps, and it just isn't as dynamic dynamic when it gets down to it. They would probably need about 1,000 incremental steps to cover the dynamics of a...

Has anyone tried the Alesis DM5 Pro Kit ?

Friends don't let friends buy Alesis!:D Save your money, buy a ddrum or vdrum. (I prefer ddrum myself) Tim

    One mic on 2 toms....

Just go with SM57's. As much as I hate the things, they are hard to beat for this purpose. Personally, I would say invest in enough MXL 602's to close mic each drum with a condenser. (I prefer condensers if close mic'ing toms.) Tim

    One mic on 2 toms....

Th MD441 is one of the best out there as far as I'm concerned. I used one on a kick drum one time - about 2 feet from the drum and aimed at the middle of the drum and it was brilliant sounding.:D I personally prefer condensers for the drumkit. Tim

    kik drum blanket?

It helps contain some of the low end and also helps keep the cymbals out of the kick drum mic. The tunnel is the way to go. If you make it about 36" long, you can really get some good isolation out of it, but it has to be a bit thick, not just 1 thin blanket.. you need quilted shipping blankets...

    Community Speakers?

I used to have a full Community rig (CSX60's and CSX70's). They sounded really good, but to be honest - the actual cone drivers - like most mid-line and lower speakers, were made by Eminence, and the actual boxes were ratfuzz covered particle board. Can anybody say - HEAVY?!?!? (the 4x15"...

    What triggers do you use?

And you can even get really fancy with the triggering, and run each trigger through a graphic EQ, and set each drum's trigger to a different EQ frequency to make sure that there is ZERO crosstalk. :D Tim

    What triggers do you use?

Yes. A trigger sends an electrical pulse or spike that is an audible sound if you listen to it. Tim

Active Member needs help: Should I go electric?

Okay, I can see your argument. I Like the sonic potential from electrics - especially if you are playing clubs, because half the soundmen out there don't have the gear to make a kit really shine in a live environtment. That said - I prefer triggering from a real kit. So, have you thought...

    One Handed Roll

Some of the pro's who have gotten to study with the "old timers" learned it - It's definitely something that was almost lost due to the fact that so few play with traditional grip these days. I think people need to be able to play both ways, just because there are advantages to each. Max...

    I'm back

I would stick with a name brand if I could. The cymbals that come with that are sure to be crap - and you don't want to spend money on something that you won't be able to really use. Personally, I would look around locally for a used kit...stick with names like Ludwig, Pearl, Tama, etc. I'd...

Has anyone seen these shock mounts?

Hi J. Kelly, It's a neat idea, but if I were you - I'd figure out how to make it out of rubber or PVC to get the cost down, because the cost alone is going to turn most people off - I mean, most drummers don't even want to "kick out" (pun intended - props to Piers Anthony) that much for a kick...

How can Drummer's dislike Neil Peart?

Worst song ever! At least Quote "Bytor and the Snow Dog!" :p It's not a matter of hating them, I'm kind of indifferent to them really. If they come on the radio, I change the channel. I'd rather listen to Pink (as in the female singer, not Floyd) than Rush at this point. At least I'd like to...

How can Drummer's dislike Neil Peart?

And sadly, most people don't know who Mickey Curry is, but I do. He is an unreal drummer, and his Bonham fetish shines through at times. LOL For those who don't know, he played with Hall & Oates for quite a while, as well as Bryan Adams.... Probably his most famous work, but also most unknown...
