    Sunday Morning - acoustic cover

thank you for the listen and thoughts. I'm definitely hearing too much reverb overall now, maybe a touch lower on the mix control. I wanted a live performance unplugged vibe, but I think it's a tad much.

Good call. I agree. I could have turned down the high end pass on the reverb channel.

    Sunday Morning - acoustic cover

Got a new acoustic, Larrivee, and wanted to do a track where it can shine... so here's a Maroon 5 cover of Sunday Morning. It's not going off the radio edit, but rather their live acoustic version from 2003. There are 3 acoustics layered, L, R and C mic'd with the sm7b from about 12" away...

Heaven - acoustic (cover - Bryan Adams)

What's up Spantini :) Yeah it's so mixed in with other things it's hard to imagine its original quality, def multiple guitars there or like you said a 12-string

    New acoustic - Larrivee

For 39 years, I've only had the 70's Sigma acoustic my dad bought before I was born. I'll admit I was terrible at maintaining it - by terrible I mean I didn't. Ever. Welp finally the tuning mechanism on the D string broke. I tried to drill a nearby hole but was out of room due to some previous...

Heaven - acoustic (cover - Bryan Adams)

Think I got ya, there's so many things going on there it's a little hard to hear it. Definitely a high pass to make room for everything else, but I hear the feathery aspect and it's very light. If you find a solo performance where the acoustic is the single instrument, let me know. But I think I...

Heaven - acoustic (cover - Bryan Adams)

Hey man if you get time, would you mind sending a link to a YouTube video or something with the type of sound you're talking about? I'm listening on Yamaha HS8s. I really want to hear opinions on the guitar sound and options of what to aim for. There are so many ways to shape an acoustic sound...

Heaven - acoustic (cover - Bryan Adams)

Hey Beagle. Good to hear from you. I'm not home so I can't check the model but its a 1970s Sigma. I know that fits a ton of models description but that's all I got. I think it's naturally thinner and brittle sounding, I would really prefer a rounded warm guitar. Changing the strings would...

Heaven - acoustic (cover - Bryan Adams)

Hey everyone, I'd appreciate a mix check on this home recording of Heaven. I'm using the same Sm7b on the guitar and vocal track. My room is the biggest issue. It's a rather large living room with vaulted ceilings, but there are resonances and phase issues I can hear on the recording, perhaps...

Now Comes The Night - Rob Thomas cover, acoustic

Ha, thanks man. Yup, masters degree and FNP license in hand. Back to recording in my free time. Trying out the acoustic setup thing lately. My room needs a lot of improvement, that's for sure. And this acoustic is getting a lot of low end action. Probably, again, from the room. I should post...

    "Iris" cover

Nice! Im only listening on my phone atm, but I'll put it on in the car once I'm out of work. I was hoping to hear the tenor part in the chorus where the pitch is higher... Did you do the harmony in those notes but lower in pitch ? I understand it's your vision and version though. It still works...

Now Comes The Night - Rob Thomas cover, acoustic

The problem is the intonation as the discrepancy between the B string notes gets more drastic as you move up the fretboard. The open strings are spot on but by the 7th fret, it's off a bit. And I'm playing D major (x-x-0-2-3-2) on one guitar and the second guitar plays it around 7th and 9th...

Now Comes The Night - Rob Thomas cover, acoustic

Just wanted to try a favorite song of mine, really bare and intimate. It's originally a piano piece but gave it an acoustic treatment instead. I used the SM7B on vocals and guitars (2 guitars 20% L and 20% R). I kept the smaller foam cover on the microphone, as I was curious how this would...

Tears In Heaven - acoustic cover

Actually no, I played the bass part per the unplugged session. Checked against the tabs as well. You can tell in the chorus where it strays from the guitar root notes. The bass is played the way it is on unplugged. Thanks for the listen and comments though. Hope you're well dude

Tears In Heaven - acoustic cover

Interesting comments..i definitely have issues with the low end of the acoustic and the bass sitting together. The acoustic gets boomy in this room and i only have a few bass options to go with on the GNX3000 and none is very plentiful in the top end. That 200-400hz area is a battle between the...

Tears In Heaven - acoustic cover

Untreated room, so I need to take a bunch out of the low mids on the acoustic, it seems. 70s Sigma acoustic, sm7b, fender p bass, digitech gnx 3000 amp/cab, scarlett 2i2. Please let me know what you think of the mix. thanks Tears In Heaven (acoustic) by TRA | Free Listening on SoundCloud

"Slide" Goo Goo Dolls acoustic cover

Gotya. The last thing I did before bouncing was turn the bass up 0.5db. I agree though that id like it to be more distinct. It does seem to blend into the guitar low end. If you saw the EQ plugin on the bass you'd be shocked. It has a few deep deep low mid cuts and a big boost around 1khz. I'll...

"Slide" Goo Goo Dolls acoustic cover

I took the comments on "Let Her Cry" about the acoustic and adjusted some EQ to the mids. Let me know how you think this mix sounds. Thanks sigma 70's acoustic, sm7b fender pbass, gnx3000 ampeg bass sim red pepper bottle shaker :) Slide by TRA | Free Listening on SoundCloud

Let Her Cry - acoustic cover

I inserted a pic above of the guitar bus EQ. There's a HPF at 89hz though maybe it should have come up a bit. I think maybe the boom is more in the 250-350 range though.
