Opinions on mobile recording setup upgrades?

Greetings All, I will try to be brief. My setup is geared toward live recording which is what I do 90% of the time. Mostly in houses of worship, so it doesn't pay too good most of the time. My setup includes an older PC laptop. I7 Gen. 3; 256GB SSD: 16 GB ram; and a Glyph Studio, 2 TB...

    Audio Interface shopping (low-end)

You may want to consider the Alva Nanoface. Once you get used to the rotary knob, it works great. It is not my main interface, but I use it live as a midi interface. Sometimes I route a couple of mics thru it as well for processing with waves multirack. It is 6in / 6out counting the spdif...

Problem with Addictive Keys in a live recording situation.

Just to follow up the Alva Nanoface is very stable and does an excellent job as a live midi interface. I would recommend it to anyone.

Problem with Addictive Keys in a live recording situation.

DM60, thanks for your reply. I have no problems at all running Multirack to process up to 8 tracks (maximum) and recording with Reaper at near zero latency. I just cannot run the Addictive Keys program from the same computer. Thus the 2nd on stage computer with the cheap interface. I hope...

Problem with Addictive Keys in a live recording situation.

To follow up, I found a new Alva Nanoface for $79. They must be either discontinuing these or coming out with a new model for them to be discounted that much. Normally $199. It should be a significant step up from the M-Track. Plus it has ASIO compatible driver software. We will see.

Problem with Addictive Keys in a live recording situation.

Greetings all, My son is a budding musician. I am the tech guy. I have a small and medium size PA that we use for his gigs. We usually record his events (Reaper) and run his vocal and epuipment through Waves Multirack and to Reaper at the same time. I use a hot rod pc laptop and a...

    Some Recommendations?

If your goal is to record no more than 1 or 2 tracks at a time, I would take a look at the Focusrite Scarlett solo - usb interface. You can get a bundle that includes a large diaphram condenser mic and a nice pair headphones for just under $200 on eBay by making an offer. $199 on Amazon. I do...

    Alternative for Audacity?

Dittos to Reaper also. I recorded on desk type all in one MTR's for years. When I first made the jump, I bought a cheap m-audio interface that had PT express bundled with it and... (I don't want to make the Pro Tools users out there mad cause all of this is subjective) but needless to say it...

    Intel NUC?

Just to follow up, I decided to do major repair and upgrades to my laptop. Replace the motherboard (all usb ports were intermittent and all other solutions were tried). Since I use a Focusrite 18i8 usb interface... Installing a 250mb ssd. Will use the current hdd as a caddy storage drive...

    Yamaha AW4416 Issues

Tayor, I still own my AW4416, although it is not my primary recording platform anymore. I did record on it for several years. What I use it for now mostly is a 24 channel digital live sound mixer. I am not in front of the desk right now, but a couple of principles to remember is to make...

    Intel NUC?

Greetings all, Well it looks like i'm going to have to replace my recording computer. While I use and prefer a laptop for mobility, I just do not have the funds right now to jump to a Macbook Pro. In "bang for the buck" how do mini systems like the NUC stack up? You can find some with some...

    Question about Audio Doubling

Got the Waves ADT plugin cheap a few weeks ago, and it does a pretty good job if you don't over do it. I use it as an effect to another channel so I can blend with the original. Even though the plug has that feature, seems to work and sound better to me. Not as good as actual double tracking...

Computerless recording setup - ideas ?

I have used it as a control surface, but it is limited. You can get faders, pan and basics to work, but that's pretty much it. Right now I just track with it then dump into Reaper as previously mentioned. I have been recording with the AW4416 for several years and only recently went to a...

Computerless recording setup - ideas ?

I still track with a Yamaha AW4416 then dump into Reaper for mixing and editing, Via MTC sinc and ADAT at 24/48. 8 channels at a time. I have been using the AW for about 8 years and find it extremely stable with NO latency problems for tracking. For me it is a great solution.

Waves L3 Multimaximizer VS. Slate FG-X

Other reviews I've read say the FG-X may be better on heavy or hard material and the Multimaximizer (not Ultramaximizer) may be better on softer material (which is what I do). It is probably best to have both, but with the Waves on sale (the L3-16 bundle is at $199 OBO on fleabay right now) I...

Waves L3 Multimaximizer VS. Slate FG-X

I was going to purchase the FG-X to do some quick loudness maximizing on demo's. Then this week the L3 went on sale. What are some opinions on these 2 plugs. Thanks much.

Best Recording/Software Technology for a Newbie

Ableton Live is a good midi production software. They have a limited Intro version for about $100. You can get the Lite version - limited to 8 tracks - that comes bundled with several interfaces like some of the Focusrite Scarlette bundles. I personally use Reaper, but I play around with Live...

Drum setup for my tiny studio.

Didn't mean it like that! I said it wrong. I absolutely meant no disrespect. I admire good drummers. If I ever pick up the sticks it sound like I'm trying to drum with my feet - horrible. And for the record, I never try to push electric drums on a paying client if they don't want to...
