Backward Masking, does anyone do it anymore?

i could add another qualifier--today's popular music. we have access to more music than ever before right now, with the advent of internet and self-promotion. if you can't find modern music and musicians that blow the doors off of anything you've ever heard, then you simply aren't looking hard...

getting ready to buy my first mic set...

here's his latest: https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=287709 ultimately it comes down to what you're able to do with the gear you have. some guys spend tons of money on high-end stuff and don't know how to use it, others have budget studios and really know how to make magic with...

getting ready to buy my first mic set...

i had the cad premiums but didn't care for them, so i moved up to better, slightly less cheap mics. but greg_L uses 'em (the premium set i'm pretty sure) and he has some of the best recordings around here. a hell of a lot better than mine for sure. so, in short...ymmv.

well that was a f***in' disaster.

ok, so i couldn't help myself. i opened them back up, pushed some wires even further from the enclosure than before, and now the one that was crackling is working! woohoo! on the "oscillating" one, i took it apart, checked all connections and caps with a meter (all ok), moved some wires, put it...

well that was a f***in' disaster.

yeah, i'll probably try that tomorrow. for today i'm so ticked off i can't even look at this crap any more. i spent about 4 hours doing this "simple" mod.:o

well that was a f***in' disaster.

so my 2 spare 603s are now junk. i have no idea what the hell went wrong, but i did the 3-cap mod to both of them, and one of them now has some crazy oscillating whistle going on in the background and the other one is completely toasted. oh well, live and learn. this is the first--and the...

    new prog rock/metal

sweet! meshuggah is my all-time fave band. but i have a lot of varied influences, from 70s prog and fusion to modern extreme prog metal to radiohead to cat stevens. hell, my latest obsession is with guillermo klein--check him out, it's like jazz/fusion with a latin vibe. i really love a lot of...

lol, yeah the cookie monster vox are not popular in these parts, my apologies. you may want to check out some of the other tunes. most of them are instrumental and a couple of them have melodic vox (parallax, windmills). i'm not a one-trick pony i assure you. hell, "identity" is a...

    new prog rock/metal

thanks so much guys! i agree w/ you both on the kick--i'll be remixing gradually and get updated versions up. i also agree on the snare--it's been very difficult to work with. i'll try adding some reverb and see what happens. i've pretty much done all i can with eq. toms, not much i can do...

    choosing capacitors...

i see, thanks. so, does it make any difference at all if i use the higher-rated caps (voltage i mean, it appears that upping the uf is fine, and even preferable, per marik). i mean, is it a "when in doubt" kinda thing? cuz i'd rather be safe than sorry as long as the higher voltage isn't gonna...

    choosing capacitors...

i just checked these out, and i noticed they're both 50V. is that gonna be a problem like minion mentioned (being so close in rating to the 48V supply)? also, the panasonic caps are 1uf instead of .22, so now i'm really confused. i know in my field i can up the uf rating on a motor cap (within...

    new prog rock/metal

thanks man! i actually thought the vox might have been a bit too loud, but i'm notorious for burying my vox, so there's that... that's the heaviest song on the disc (and probably the heaviest thing i've ever done), and there's a lot of variety on there. i'd be interested to hear your opinion on...
