Is there something easy to dampen the sound?

The match-point of eggshell crate is like 140 degrees (after which it catches fire). Don't do it Dude. Even your Lava lamp could kill you. "Ridiculous cheap" Get carpet samples from your local carpet store and glues them to the walls. All they do is kill the early reflections and any hi end...

    What an Idiot.

No offense to the UK meant there Legion, he was just dissing American audiences. He's right, we don't appreciate wankers here either. Oh, and Pete never really thought of it as art. He accidently stuck his headstock through a low ceiling tile at one show and the crowd went crazy. He...

    Routing problems

It's obvious you don't have your software "outs" configured to your hardware "outs" correctly. Forget about sends for now, in fact eliminate them. Try routing your MainL Output to your outboard compressor and returning it to one of your channel strip inputs, just as a test to prove my point...

Cakewalk Home Edition 2004 worth buying?

I'll disagree about the features, I think Home studio is feature packed and is morbidly upgradeable. You Reaper guys have your own room don't you?

Cakewalk Home Edition 2004 worth buying?

Sorry, I just saw your post. I can't understand why anyone on this board would steer you away from Cakewalk products. Cakewalk is the best program you can get for that kind of money. If you're just starting out, it's the easiest way to go, period. I will not 'dis Reaper. But Cakewalk is...

    How Much Processor...Seriously.

There's no one-answer solution here. You've got enough processor and ram, for sure. Start by bumping up your buffer size to 512/1024/2048. On playback, it doesn't matter how much latency you have. The only time latency is a factor is when you record and monitor in realtime. Add more buffers...

    How Much Processor...Seriously.

It comes down to sample rate, number of buffers, and size of buffers. Try running the automatic soundcard configuration again or your soundcard manufacturer may have specific settings for running Sonar. What version of Sonar are you running?

Unless of course you ask Frank Fillipetti, who hates Mac's and uses Nuendo.

    Midi Clueless

Midi is a language of 0's and 1's. A sequencer uses midi events like the holes on a player piano roll, to trigger notes and events like volume at specific times throughout the piece. You drum module can be used to "play" the notes it receives from a sequencer. The midi connection on your...
