Mixing---How do YOU know when to stop!?

I wait for that little pop-up window that says: "Your Mix is Done". It comes with all the best software.

    is vista THAT bad?

Just be prepared to stay with that hardware set-up(graphics, cpu speed, memory) you buy for a long, long time - till your next Mac. Be prepared to having access to a much smaller pool of software products. Be prepared to have to be 'special', compared to the other 90% of personal computer users.

    Buying a snake

I've had good success this these guys: http://www.audiopile.net/products/products.asp before I could afford my Whirlwind. It's a step or two below professional grade, but quite adequate for semi-pro work. And, they take real good care of you. Personal service is standard.

    Solved LightScribe rocks!

I had a Lightscribe SATA dvd-rw. It took 20 minutes to print a brown on gold label. It also gummed up some lable printing software I already had. I removed it. I got a HP 5120 all-in-one, with CD label writing. The cd's cost the same as the lightscribe cds, and I can print color labels in...

    My broadband absorbers - DIY

What did you do about reinforcing the corner joints? I see you have no bracing in the middle, so I assume you did something special in the corner joints to help them retain thier shape and rigidity.

    Beatles Cover Thread!

Think about this... There have been 37 different people who have posted songs to this thread. There are 133 links to 85 different songs. There were only 22 songs covered more than once. This is from a group which has only 210 songs in thier catelogue and lasted only 7 and a half years...

    cheap monitor stand solution

I was at a craft store and found a couple of wrought iron plant stands, 10" x 10" x 30"(h), with 1" wooden slats with 1/2" seperation between them. I added a couple of Auralux monitor pads for aiming purposes, and voila... perfect monitor stands. They're heavy, but light on top.

    Need help building new computer

I didn't like the lightscribe drive at all. The drivers are intrusive, and it's a huge drain when burning a label. I had one... totally bogged down my machine (E6600, 2gb ram, XP), and the finished product was less than impressive - mono color(dark brown on gold). I dumped it for a regular dvd...

ditto on the Sony 7506. Reasonably priced (~$100), more than reasonable sound.

Monkey... yup, all live, one take performance recordings. I usually record 9 or 10 per show, and of those, I'll get 4 or 5 that are mix-worthy. All the songs I've posted in this thread are live tracks.

Do I really Need a sub with nearfields?

Thanks for the replies guys. I was kinda hoping you'd all say that. I have noticed that my mixes are getting better regarding the bottom, having made listening adjustments. I'm mostly mixing live performance tracks I record with my HD24. I have a good gain structure for the house mix and get...

Do I really Need a sub with nearfields?

I'm using Event TR8's. My room (10'x12') is treated with 4 bass traps, some reflection and absorption panels. It's by no means a perfect room, but it's quite and still. Yet, sometimes, my mixes come up light on other sources. Do I really need to add a subwoofer, or do I just need to adjust my...
