mic > tascam > computer
all you need is a standard xlr cable to hoop the mic up to the tascam then usb to the computer. only cords you need is an xlr, the ub cord and a power cord.
i havent been recording too long (a year oR so) but i thought id toss out a great tip to beginners and well anyone. im sure this is known but SHOP AROUND. it can save you a bundle.
i was looking for some drum mics, i have an sm57 for snare but thats about it. i decided to go for something cheap...
i like the PreSonus FireStudio Mobile 10x6. never owned one but from using one a few times i can tell the preamps arent bad for the price and it has 2 mic inputs and 4-8 line level inputs
i use/used a xenyx 802 and it does have phantom power, theres a 48v switch over below the rca ins and outs. hit that to engage phantom power.
that should fix your problem.
i used to own a lexicon omega like the one you presented, it wasnt too bad of quality, but personally id say go for the presnous unit. ive used one of those a fair amount and the mic preamps are a lot better in it.
im working on my home studio, and setting my studio (been in the works for about 6 months or so). ive been actively involved in audio production classes at the local college, recording myself and a few others.
my current set up:
behringer xenyx802 mixer
mxl990 condenser
2 crappy nady dynamics...
