My last ever trip to Guitar Center....

Yeah, I had a "horrible" time at my local music shop- Victor Litz. I go in at like 11am on a Wednesday, and ask this kid some technical questions about flash memory cards for the Fostex MR8 digital multitracker- and this guy has the nerve to say "hmmm, I don't know. Let's go to the computer and...

    MR8 and n-track

I write code. I don't have to time to organize (right now, anyway), but I'm plenty opinionated and more than happy to write and debug.

    drum machine

Maybe this is a common rookie mistake, but I'm a beat-nut, and I love pumping up the drums in every mix... Maybe I'll keep that in mind and mix both ways- then upload to the MP3 clinic.

    Mixer settings and hookup w/MR-8

Where do you think I GOT the mixer? ;) (oh man! did I just admit to paying MONEY for that outloud?! Shoot! I gotta hide!)

Is It Safe To Purchase Products @ Ebay?

Where to start?! Ebay is both good and bad. I've had great sellers that make the transactions awesome. There are some people who have had horrible experiences: from the wrong item being shipped (happened to me once, but the seller was cool), items broken during shipping (happened to me 1, but...

    MR8 and n-track

Demo it before sinking any money intoNtrack (you get a 30 day trial...) In general, since the MR8 dumps wav's onto your computer, and most every computer audio program can understand wav's, its a match made in heaven.

    Forearm body ground...........

Re: Re: Re: Forearm body ground........... QUICK! file this idea at the patent office before some unscrupulous home-rec'r steals it and becomes a millionaire of your ideas! Well, maybe not millionaire, maybe only thousandaire, but STILL! ;)

    bass throug a guitar pod

from user "Trevor Machine" in the fostex forum: So yes- the regular guitar pod should be supa' cool!

    Recording guitar with MR8

Re: Whoa! Yeah, for a midi cable, I suggest you buy one with two ends ;) Seriously- whatever they have, should be like 10 bucks. Your only limit, is how far apart you want your devices (since you aren't doing this on stage, you can get a 5 -7 footer) I Don't have an RT-323. I only have...

    Rectifier??

Good link, Don! Some more info from http://www.rru.com/~meo/Guitar/Amps/Kalamazoo/Mods/ssrect.html Why convert to a solid state rectifier? There are several potential (pun intended) reasons. First off, you will get higher voltages and very little ``sag'', resulting in a punchier, cleaner...

    Rectifier??

okay, I understand the "triple" part of its name- it has three channels you can mix and mess with, but the "Rectifier" part? From the product main page: (after that, they start talking about hott lixx and smokin' amps... blah blah blah) Hmmmm, rectify, reintroduce... are they using the...

    Forearm body ground...........

Ohhh, I see! Like, the entire upper and back part of the guitar is a metal plate, so no matter how you strum as long as you have some contact with it, you are grounded- Interesting!

    Recording guitar with MR8

Not exactly. I'm not ashamed of my drum machine- infact, I'm quite proud of it. I just don't want to pretend that its a drummer. Its different than a drummer, and I want to "celebrate" that difference. (which is the politically correct thing to do in the percussion world!) mekka- can't we all...

    Mixer settings and hookup w/MR-8

I like Blue Bear's recommendation to use negative EQ- instead of boosting the highs, lowering the lows and mids, that sort of thing. (check his website for a better explanation!) But for your first go round- leave 'em straight up, record, listen on monitors, car stereo, boom box, etc. Then...

    Forearm body ground...........

why not one of those "Wrist" straps (for semiconductor electronics, like RAM) around your ankle? The disposable kind, too! That way, nothing is around your arms so you can move them at will, and you can still wear shoes (just be careful of wearing boots and long jeans). A quick search on...

    Rectifier??

To make it short: a rectifier is what takes an AC and makes it DC. Hunh? Check it- so you have an AC wave- looks like a sine wave, it goes up, maxes out, then goes down, and maxes out on the negative side- basically going positive to negative. A rectifier diode will totally cut out the...

    Jeff Beck returns

Santana explained Santana is just getting paid now for being such a badass then. Seriously! The grammy, all the crappy new songs, everything- the industry is coming around and giving him a pat on the back. I don't know why now, but abraxis was SLAMMIN, so I can say that he deserves it...

    Recording guitar with MR8

Re: advantages? Okay- you are STILL plugging the stereo (or mono) 1/4" guitar cord from your drum machine into the unbalanced inputs on the MR8- however while the drum machine is giving sound to the MR8, the MR8 is giving a metronome to the drum machine. Advantages? You wake up in the...

    Recording guitar with MR8

AS a point of personal preference, thats one thing I try to steer away from with my drum machine programming. I don't want it to sound like a drummer, because any real drummer can kick my drum machine's butt (I know I can). And since I can't get enough variety in cymbal sounds (even with the...

    drum machine

I've got the cheesy little brother, the QY10. I've also got a DR550. Even though I can loop record beats on the QY10 and quantize them into place if they are off, I much prefer the DR550 (and 660, etc.) interface for programming drum beats. I really like it, its a neat little box. Maybe the...
