First Mix EVER :) quirky gypsy-jazz-ish song from band practice

From what I hear, it sounds pretty damn good! Just my opinion, but sometimes the guitar is kind of hard to hear. Catchy as hell, and definitely worth listening to! Par le vu francais? :) very clever lyrics.

    First attempt.

I am not a pro, but what I hear is pretty good stuff. drums are great... but i would like to hear more of them. sounds kinda in the background. 2:39 :the kick is somewhat odd to me here. could be the cool time change or guitar timing affecting it. I dig the vocals. mixes in nicely. tight...

    Guitar amp poll

Fender for me. Has anyone played on an "Orange" amp? If so, what did you think. I thought the sound was great, but the price was too much.

    john frusciante- ridiculous

Mother's milk. Great album. Even though others didn't, I like One hot minute as well. Navarro had some good stuff. diff. but good imo.

    Style and mixing questions...

Thank you for listening as well as the advice! It will be utilized! The vocals were a complete accident. I was recording them using the built in stereo mic on my 8-track and for some reason it only picked up one side. I plan on rerecording them. and as far as the levels on the rhythm, you are...

    Should Tab Sites Be Legal?

In my opinion, there is a difference between writing a novel from scratch and composing an interpretation of another's art. I think many books have been written on this idea. Interpretation of another's art. How many people have made a living on breaking things down to their simplest form so...

    Learning songs

I share the same fate! I think it may be a mental block on my part, though. I can reproduce any part of a song... except the words. I have tried all sorts of memory techniques: writing as I hear it, re-writing it. singing it over and over, but let a day go by and the words are like a ghost...

    Should Tab Sites Be Legal?

I think that we should make everything illegal. especially trying to figure out how to play the guitar. May god shame anyone who has ever played a riff that resembles enter sandman. And anyone whom has ever played a 1 4 5 chord progression. God thought of it first. And he has copyrighted it...

    Soundfonts on soundcards.

I was wondering if it was possible to force soundfonts without having an Awe32? I don't know if it is possible to upgrade the soundcard in my laptop to anything other than what is already there. I really miss the audio quality that soundfonts can present.

    john frusciante- ridiculous

true. he is a great guitarist. As for Yellow Ledbetter... I feel it is just a simple littlewing riff with incoherent mumbling over it. Not that I dislike the song. :) I couldn't wait to learn it when I first heard it. But rly. Mmm... to footsteps.

    Style and mixing questions...

Well, after many, many years of playing guitar and not recording, I found that snow storms can bring out the inspiration needed to plug in an 8-track and a guitar. This is my first attempt at recording and mixing on my own and I would love to receive some advice on how to make it better. This...

I finally finished my fisrt full album! woohoo!

I am extremely digging the vocals. Very full sound. I also enjoy the changes. Takes me back to the euphoric days of the bends. Come to America is cool. I dig the hypnotizing effect it produces.

    Project III

Very cool progression into the groove and lead. I also dig the Minor-Major-Minor changes during the solo. Great tone on the guitar. Love the sustain.

Any suggests for equipment (Hardware/Software) for Home Recording

I use a br-600 8-track which I purchased for around $300 A decent mic for $40 and various cables. As for mixing software... Cakewalk is a fave of mine. It has some great effects and great pre-built drum tracks. plus, a drum pad for creating your own beats. I use a standard cord to plug it...

drum software - is it possible to create your own beats?

It may be rather archaic, but I actually use the drum pad on my br-600 to make beats. (usually 1-2 measures in length.) I make a couple fills here and there and then I transfer them as a wave file to my laptop. I then finally use Sonar to arrange them with other guitar tracks and he such. I...

Ever been afraid to ruin your songs.

Yeah. My Mrs is rather gifted when it comes to making musical metaphors as well! I have had problems all my life making words fit into a song. I manage to write some fairly clever vocals, but they never seem to embellish a tune the way that I want. Either timing or melodic interference...

    Looking for a backup guitar.

Props to Monsterpop. I love my ltd. I can get so many great sounds from it. Very versatile... as well as stylish! great for smooth rhythm as well as raunchy whining leads. EDIT: Plus it's pretty sexy.
