    Instrumental mix

Thanks, I also think that is more cleaner. You know, I'm always tempted to add more gain! I'm mixing with monitors and also flat headphones at this very moment. You told me there's something odd on the low-end right? Maybe it's the kick, here's a test without it...

    Instrumental mix

I tamed the distortion and the highs of the guitars. DO you reckon the tone is better now? https://soundcloud.com/infectionmetal/mix-test-002

    Instrumental mix

Hello guys, I'd like to know if you find this metal mix balanced. There's something else, do you think the guitar tone is appropriated or do you reckon it needs more gain? https://soundcloud.com/infectionmetal/mix-test-001 Thanks in advance!

Which distortion on this mix is better?

Yeah, our vocalist is frightening, ha! Thanks for your comment. Hopefully, other members will give heir opinion on these tracks.

Which distortion on this mix is better?

Hey guys, I'm currently mixing a death metal album. Since the original signal was re-amped, I have different possibilities for the guitars. So, here you can hear the same excerpt using different microphones: Shure SM-57 (Peavey Bravo 112)...

Metal mix! Comments or suggestions will be welcomed.

Hey man, I really appreciate your input on this matter. Fortunately, when I was recording guitars we had a clean take that we could use to re-amp it using different microphones on a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier. Here you can hear the original source (the one that is on the track of the topic) plus...

Crap! I just noticed the link was broken. I fixed it.

Metal mix! Comments or suggestions will be welcomed.

Hey there guys. I'm working on this metal track. I'd like to know if you have some comments or suggestions to improve it. My only concern is the bass right now, I think is too up-front. Other than that, I think guitars are distinguishable on the mix, which is something I struggled to achieve...

Help me choose between two mixes

Hello guys, I was wondering if you could help me to choose one of these mixes for a metal song? Any other suggestion will be welcomed. https://soundcloud.com/infectionmetal/tetrodotoxin-mix-test-001 https://soundcloud.com/infectionmetal/tetrodotoxin-mix-test-002 Thanks in advance!

    Home "mastered" track

I converted the original [.aiff] to a 320kbps [.mp3] file. You can find the audio attached. I agree with Seafroggys about the clarity, in some way I find the result a bit "dark," not the "bright" sound I'm looking for. Do you reckon is there something weird on the mix?

    Home "mastered" track

Hello guys, some time ago I posted some of my "mastered" tracks here and you gave me some tips to improve it. This is a small excerpt of what I have right now. When I A/B my final file against a commercial tune from the same genre I can notice that mine is quieter. At the same time, I also...

    A/B Comparison: Mix and Master

Hello again, I've tried not to jeopardize my mix with weird settings. This is a new master test: https://soundcloud.com/infectionmetal/infection-master-test-v-002 PS: Pro Tools only allows me to export uncompressed [.wav] and [.aiff] files. I used the first.

    A/B Comparison: Mix and Master

Lesson learned. I'll be working on that this week. Hope to come up with something good!

    A/B Comparison: Mix and Master

Izotope rape! :laughings: But that's true. I will start from scratch, and will try to be respectful to the mix. Sometimes I get excited with the bells and whistles. Thanks for the advice and listeing to the track, I know not many people like to hear death metal music on this forum.

    A/B Comparison: Mix and Master

    I used Izotope Ozone.

    A/B Comparison: Mix and Master

Thanks for the input! Although the "mastered" (note the quotation marks) version sounds louder, in comparison with the final mix, it sounds thinner and has lost some of the bottom end. Today I noticed that so I'm going to start from scratch. Some guys have told me that Studio One is a good...

    A/B Comparison: Mix and Master

That makes sense. I would like to make a quick test. I'm uploading uncompressed [.aif] excerpts of the songs to SoundClound. Do you still hear artifacts on those track? If so, SoundCloud is definitively doing something wrong: MIX https://soundcloud.com/infectionmetal/infection-mix-test MASTER...

    A/B Comparison: Mix and Master

Really weird, because I uploaded a 320kbps [.mp3] to SoundCloud. Excuse me but I don't hear any artifacts, so perhaps it's the bass. I have two bass tracks there, one clean and other with distortion to add some bite. I really appreciate your feedback so, would you hearing the MIX again, and...
