one of the main problems you have is lack of musican friends go to the local pubs ,open nights play your tunes ,get to know other musicans chances are one of them will have thier own recording rig and proberly be more than willing to record you (proberly for a few beers or just for the practise)...
the difference it would make would be to give you more trigger zones on your hihat top and edge , the choke would be nogood to you because hihats dont have them so superior drummer has no sounds or software support for this trigger,as a cymbal it would be fine but most software drum programs...

hats pedal chick = closeing the hihats
hats closed edge = hats closed hiting the edge
hats foot splash = quickly closing the hats and reopening them letting the top hat ring

with the pod xt pro you can record both the clean unprocessed and the processesed guitar sounds you may be able to do this with your pod xt my manual covers both and its in there so maybe both pods can do it.

isn't what you are asking to do what happens on every stereo/hifi on the planet everybody sets their own eq on the hifi to what sounds right to them or to the room their in ?
but i would be inclined to try the mastered mix on as many hifi's as you can it may just be your room .
