Please give me insight on this problem with recording live shows and clipping!

Check that the Nominal Input Level (in the audiofire12 software) is set to +4dBu. If it is set to -10dBV, then it expects the incoming signal to be weaker and it will automatically boost the level.

One cymbal tarnishes way faster than the others.

Done! I explained the problem and asked if there is anything they can recommend to seal the cymbal again. Awaiting their reply. Thanks. (I'll spit my coffee all over the monitor laughing if they say to try car wax.)

NEW HIP HOP MUSIC VIDEO 'SKUNKADELIC - FINAL HOUR' feedback? =)

Good work, man. I enjoyed it as well. I love music vids that have a real story to tell. I think I even got the moral at the end. Well done.

One cymbal tarnishes way faster than the others.

Hmmm, I always thought that wax might be a bad idea. I'll think about it.

Maybe I'll write to Paiste like dreib suggested.

One cymbal tarnishes way faster than the others.

I know what you mean. Me too. I guess this won't hurt anything. They still play and sound fine. In fact, they are fast becoming my favorite of the three sets of hats that I own. They are 13" and have the sweetest sounding high pitch chick for recording. So, I guess it's only a minor problem...

One cymbal tarnishes way faster than the others.

I got the cymbal used a few months ago. Although it was not very old, I don't know what it has been through. Apparently they scrubbed it with some harsh product.

One cymbal tarnishes way faster than the others.

When I clean my high hat cymbals, (Paiste 802) they turn brown again within one week. They get that dark tan color like a fresh baked turkey. I don't like that color. I want them to look clean and shiny like all my other cymbals. They do clean up nicely and look new at first, but a few days...

Wait! You mean you broke the number one forum rule? You are not allowed to have more than one identity, username, or account on Homerecording.com. Don't let the Big Meanies find out or it will be off-with-your-head.

What do you guys think of this?

WTF? Who made that decision, to remove the story line? Oh well. It's still a nice (pretty) video, but now you know we feel that the original idea would have made it a great video. Sorry, man. Just being honest.

Practicing my editing skills. (Beatles cover made in house)

Still getting to know my editing software. I made this to play around with the different effects and techniques. Let me know what you think.

Learning more about my cameras. Seeking tips.

Wow, thanks Gecko, Bobbsy, and Chili. That all makes sense. Here is the piece I mentioned about the blue and green cards. The author explains why just above the example photos. An easy way to improve the color and look of your videos His argument was about skin tones under different lighting...

Learning more about my cameras. Seeking tips.

I recently read an article about how to white balance my video cameras before each shoot for better color. They advised using pale blue or green color cards depending on light temperature. I'll give it a go. Anyway, since I am a novice, I am seeking more helpful tips and info such as that. (The...

    How does DAW mixing work?

Your question seems a bit scatter-brained. First, let us clarify what exactly you want to accomplish. Are you talking about recording a live event (in real time) from the mixer into the DAW? ...Or mixing a previously recorded show from the DAW back out to the mixer? (From what little bit I...

what in god's name is this bizarre wave form?

I disagree. Indeed it would. The study and practice of isolating structural-born vibrations would benefit thousands of home studios. I understand that many individuals can't afford high-dollar earth work and construction such as your project. But, there are dozens of little things which can...

what in god's name is this bizarre wave form?

Oh, one more thought... This is not an unregistered version of Adobe Audition, is it? The reason I ask is because some demo software, after expiration, embeds noise into the waveform to render it unusable. Theoretically this forces users to go buy the software if they want to continue using it...

what in god's name is this bizarre wave form?

It may be noise from a very low (or high) frequency that your speakers cannot reproduce. Do you have a sub? I would use a limiter (under the effects menu) to reduce the wild peaks down equal to the others.

    The importance of Transients

You need to be careful when using those shapers on a snare. There is a lot of mid and high frequency content within that initial transient. Cutting it down, (or even setting the attack too short on a compressor,) can reduce the crack too much making the drum sound more dull or choked.

    Coolest new product for drummers...TruTuner.

It will help some drummers with tuning. I've seen drums with one tensioner too tight, seemingly a full octave off from all the others, but the drum still sounds in tune. This device will at least get them all close to one another. Minor tweaking is all that is needed, which is the easy part. It...
