The problem is that the amp doesn't need any signal to drive itself to full output with no load. It will do that just fine on it's own, no matter what the volume setting is, because it's the output transformer basically amplifying it's own internal noise. It goes to full power and fries itself.

Passive XLR splits will be fine 99.5% of the time, if you have your shit together as far as AC grounding goes. Splitter snakes are just XLR Y cables in a box, unless they say they have isolated outputs.

Speaker efficiency will tell you how much SPL per watt you will get. As far as the power section, a more efficient amp will get more power to the speaker per watt drawn out of the wall. But amps are rated for their output power across the outputs, so a 100W amp can output 100W. Power section...

Here's some more to think about- in both amps and light bulbs, most of the energy is heat. 5% is considered pretty efficient for a speaker. So if you feed a speaker 100W, 95W is thrown away as heat, 5W is used to move the cone. So your 4X10 Marshall cab fed by your 100W Plexi head blasting...

To whom it may concern: Use a wireless if it makes you happy. Nobody cares about your tone. Besides that, nobody will ever notice your tone when you mix your guitar sound together with your out of tune screechy vocals blasting way too loud through your crappy distorting PA.

Say what? Power amps are meant to be run in a way that best matches them to their load, and the way that best matches the system design. If that means bridging, so be it. If it means not bridging, then that's the way to go.
