    Snare drum upgrade

Just snag a new acrolite then? The black panther snare you mentioned would also be a good snare.

    Snare drum sound

The beginning of the song has that snare roll coming in, there is one decent hit without the hats playing over it and that's what I cut out.

    Snare drum sound

I think Steenamaroo is correct. This snare really doesn't sound that special outside of the hats. I took the cleanest hit (that still has a hat hit fallowing it) and duplicated it. Float on Snare.mp3 Then I tried to duplicate it as close as I could... however it's not possible because A: No...

    Heavier Song Different Tone

Post the bass track by itself. Also I have to agree the cymbal on the R side is a tad loud and harsh sounding.

    Wacky playback issues-please help

Make sure your hardware sample rate is matched with your cubase project's sample rate. Also make sure you didn't accidentally toggle your time base to linear or to musical.

Do you really need that many tracks ??

Man I'm mixing the Opeth track for this month's nail the mix and iirc there are easily 60+ audio tracks alone before all the bus and aux tracks I'm tagging on. The first month I joined nail the mix was a Jason Richardson song and there were over 100 audio tracks.

any Real sounding drum machines ??

The pearl high end module (mimic) has Steven Slate samples in it. The Pearl R.E.D. Box module has some toontrack and slate samples inside as well. Those are the only ones I'm aware of though. The Modules are also seriously lacking in RAM compared to a PC so I highly doubt the samples sound as...

    fear of click tracks

This topic is genre specific in my opinion. Sometimes it's fine, sometimes it's not. When it's fine it's great. When it sucks, it really fucking sucks. :guitar: Jazz group with solid internal meter? Yep all good. Prog metal band? Oh God please no.

    Bass cabs vs DI

So many ways to skin a cat when it comes to rock/metal bass. Been watching some professionals do it. Here is Nolly's (periphery) take on it: I personally use a hardware bass preamp that goes direct, but I do some further processing. ---------- Update ---------- Here is Bergstrand mixing...

    Transient Designer ?

lol no Compressors all essentially do the same thing as each other as well. Of course they each have thier own color and sound but a compressor is a compressor and an eq is an eq and a td is a td no matter who made the thing.

    Transient Designer ?

I love transient designers, to be honest I would love the actual hardware unit. But since I don't have hardware I have the fallowing, they are all good in thier own way and oddly don't sound the same at all even though they all pretty much do the same thing: 1. Transient Monster: Stillwell...

Not a standard hook up - pad + pedals

You need some sort of trigger I/O in order to add a kick and hat pad. I have never seen anything that works direct to USB from the pedal. Hi hat pedals don't work like other pads do, they feed Resistance to a module and in turn that module reads that information and translates it to various...

    Recording bass with compression

There really isn't a great answer to this TBH. The reality is you need to try as many setups as you can and go with what works because there really isn't a wrong answer on how to do it. try dumping the compressor before the crunch. Try compressing after you record in the DAW. Try the...
