I'm kind of bummed, and here's why.

lt. bob was responding to lonewhitefly: I LOVE the conversation, the banter and prattling too even (especially?) when it's inane and stupid and fun or just pleasant, but no more of this boorish, 'bad citizen' crap inciting people to start fights. Remember, if you win a fight on the Internet...

Mixing & Mastering a 100% analog session to vinyl

Who cares if the records "sound" great from the 70s - the music was crap! (Kidding, kidding.... I grew up on 80s hardcore punk and used to hate that 70s stuff but I really like a lot of it now ;) )

I'm kind of bummed, and here's why.

You're totally right and I agree with you, but would you agree that this kind of preventable behavior makes the Analog Only forum far less inviting? And, if you're here to find and read useful information, doesn't it suck to have to do that over, and over, and over again, just to get to the...

I'm kind of bummed, and here's why.

I'm reading through everyone's responses right now, but I want to clarify a couple of things. 1. I'm not at all against discussing "the digital option", however it is so not productive to come into a thread on, say, mastering an analog recording to lacquer, and chime in with "Well you know...

Mixing & Mastering a 100% analog session to vinyl

Tape machines made for this purpose look really cool, too. There's two headstacks and the transport looks like a weird yoyo trick. Left picture, second from the top, on this page: http://www.stevehoffman.info/pic-mastering-5.html

Mixing & Mastering a 100% analog session to vinyl

I think it would be an issue because it'll be out of phase in every place it's played. But!! It will never be out of phase the way it was in your studio, so everyone who plays your recording will get a totally different playback experience than you did in a way that would really, really suck for...

Mixing & Mastering a 100% analog session to vinyl

I'd been wondering about that... if it would cause phase issues if that weren't the case. Low frequencies out of phase with each other create a really violent 'wobble' in the signal and that could really screw up the tracking of the cutting implement, right?

I'm kind of bummed, and here's why.

I really like this website and I've been coming here for about four years. But I stop reading this forum and don't come back for weeks when I check in and see things devolving to ego fights and trolling. I don't have time to click through pages of meta-discussion and politics, bickering about...

Mixing & Mastering a 100% analog session to vinyl

That has always been my understanding of the transaction: You do what you do well (making a mix), the mastering engineer will then do what he or she does well, which is tune and tweak your two-track mix to make it sound as good as possible, taking into account whatever nuances the target medium...

    The EMTEC lineage...

Fits the trend of many other manufacturing companies, including GE and 3M. Nobody makes their own products anymore, companies just hire OEMs to make cheap crap for them and then slap a recognizable brand identity on it...

Mixing & Mastering a 100% analog session to vinyl

Hey guys, nice forum! I'm new here, do you talk about analog audio here, or do you squabble about recording technologies? Har har har. Seriously, get over it and move the discussion to another forum. Let's talk about mixing and mastering using an analog chain!! To quote the original post...

    Whare can I find an MSR-16 ?. .

I'm kind of late here, but you really only need one google query. Using your example, where I live: You can also set up a Google Alert, it will notify you when a new ad appears which matches your query.

Upgrading TL072 op amps with the TI TLE2072?

Hey friends, I'm reading about the TL072, comparing it to similar op amps, and Texas Instruments is pushing its TLE2072 as an "upgrade" to the TL072. The specs look nice, especially compared to the TL072, but does anyone here have real, practical experience with this chip? Or, if you're...

How Many Regular Members Are No Longer Here?

I stop by maybe a couple times a week to see if there's an interesting thread. I'm actually ditching my current career (software engineering) to get into music production, and I've got so much to repair and rebuild that I don't really have time to discuss anything else related to gear.
