How many D/A's do you need to playback while recording? In my opinion, only one. That's why the Headphone out is there. Buy a headphone amp and you can use headphones PLUS send the signal to monitors for mixdown.
I don't understand how the MiniMe couldn't be what you're looking for. What...
WOW!! What a cool video. Ethan, you are indeed a musical master!! Very impressive!!!!
I still can't afford your bass traps, though. :D
But I wish I could a little more than I did before. :)
I may be mistaken but I figure that you should be able to control the HD24 via midi from the PC. You can control the HD24 from a digital mixer so why not a PC? Surely Cubase SX or Sonar have this capability built-in but, I don't know.
Hi,
I had the opportunity to spend a few days in Pigeon Forge, TN last week and I was inspired by the design on all those cabins in the mountains. My question is how much support would you think a 16 X 32 wood framed room would need in terms of the number of posts and what not to keep the...
Masterlink is kind of overkill in my opinion but if you want a stereo recorder/cd burner in one box, it'll do it. All you'd need is a stereo pre. I'm unsure if you get 2 mono tracks or one stereo track meaning that whatever you record to the left side stays on the left side and whatever you...
If you just want something to monitor the outs of the HD24 while tracking, a speck x.sum would fit the bill. It's pricey, but may meet your needs.
Also, I want to clarify to the original poster that there are actually 24 "pairs of outs" on the HD24. 1 digital and 1 analog for every track...
I don't know if it's been mentioned or not but the speck mp 5.0 is a pre than can be daisy-chained for mixer opertions. It might not be the pre you're looking for but, it's cheap and feature rich.

You would do well to read as much as you can (several times) from here:

Herein lies a wealth of knowledge on how to do a lot of what you'll need to consider.
Now get reading! :D
What level of isolation are you hoping to achieve? Do you hope to make rest of the house oblivious to the drumming going on or can there be some bleed through?
To be totally isolated may require not just it's own ceiling but it's own floated floor as well.
Cost is relative. once you know...
So you have an o1v and an hd24...
And I suppose you want to use the o1v as a dedicated DAW controller???
So that poses the question of what mixer to use???
Your pre's are lightpiped to the o1v????
Why not lighpipe them directly to the hd24 then send the adat outs to the o1v adat ins then...
I'd go with Yamaha over Tascam. That's just a personal perference. Behringer mixer = not good. You will be better off with an all-in-one unit. I don't know about the edirol unit. you should read the manuals and any other documents you can about each unit and then try to rent one from...
I'd have to say that a well kept Taylor is sweet. That "kid" may not know how to take care of a guitar. And all the Taylors I've played cost more than $2K. I've wanted one since the first time my pick raked the strings.
Don't judge a brand by one bad experience.
Well, you asked which recorder. Does that mean you have a mixer already? The AW1600 may suit as you can record 8 tracks at once. The HD24 would be a nice recommendation if you had a 24 channel mixer already. If you've got a limited budget and have no mixer, go with the yamaha. Yamaha makes...
see diffusions thread on his blanket booth. mommy and daddy might help you pay for that before they let you build a booth in your bed room. I don't mean to sound cruel or anything but, at 14 you should read a LOT more about acoustics before you think you can solve your problems with a particle...
That Cpt. Obvious comment was killer! :D
Uh, Lumbago, I don't agree. If that were true, all the best studios wouldn't need apogee's, benchmark's, and mytek's. I don't think those people pay good money for nothing more than behringer quality in a nicer box with a better brand name. That would...
Yeah, SPI in Cincinnati gave me a quote of 1.50/sqft plus shipping for the 3" 703. SPI in Lexington quoted 2.62/sqft plus shipping. I'd rather drive to Cincinnati than spend 2.62/sqft!!
Thanks for the info.
