Are they comfy? Sometimes the ear buds can get annoying, especially if you're gonna be tracking for a full day. But if they're comfy I'll give em a shot!
Thanks for the tip,

1.You don't wanna know how it was made....what exactly do you want a technical explanation of then?
2."I love how often anti-metal people like you, show their lack of respect for the genre, which to me, comes off as pure ignorance" Wait so who is the one that's mis-judging? I'm not anti-metal I...
1. Buy a nice tube pre
2. I always do what the band asks to hear the idea, or at least to show them and say "see this sounds like ass" But I do a lot of recording with distortion and I love it. It can give a nice contrast, but for every instrument for an entire album? Sounds like some dirty 70s...
Holy Shit! I don't think I've ever seen it that bad. I freak out where there are specks of tape on my pinch roller, if my tape heads and guides had a nice winter coat on like that I'd probably faint or something hahah. Hope all goes well with the clean up!
+1 for RMGi By the way

I mean that's probably all there is to it for a modern rock recording like that. Samples...auto-tune....some fierce editing and other assorted black box tricks. I'm sure the guys that engineered this have thousands of other records that sound just like it because of there (to quote greg on this...
Haha, yes I suppose I should have tried to fix what I already knew was wrong before looking for help!
As for the picture, that almost exactly it, the only difference I can see from this picture is that my Volume and tone knobs are a slightly different, they're in the same location just a...
Hey guys,
So I got this really cool 60s, consumer brand, 1/4" reel to reel machine off ebay and I'm having an issue with one of the channels outputs.
The make and model is pointless to list considering no one will find any info on the thing, but if you're curious its a Concord 555.
Now...
I'd like to make clear that, yes, I am young and stupid, but not for one second had I considered working with this man. When the guitarist had told me of this offer my initial response was....hmmmmm, sounds like bullshit.
Yep, when you have your gain set to where you like it put your ear up an inch to the cab and see if its still the sound your after. You should set your tone with the idea in mind that your mic is gonna be way closer to the cab than you are. I usually tell guitarist/bassist to get really close to...
Wait, I'm not a veteran guitarist but isn't the bridge pickup usually the thin stringy sounding pickup? The neck pickup always gave me the girth, maybe it depends on the guitar?
Yeah, I'll try to get some more info just to see exactly what he plans to do with it. Could be an interesting story to report back to you guys, I'm sure you'll get a kick out of it.
P.S. Did you get my email? Not tryin to be a pest, I just know you mentioned you got a mean spam filter!

Soundcraft Ghost, the 24 channel board. It's my first console and it's been a great one at that. Love the 2 sweepable mids, probably couldn't live without (probably the reason I over EQ things sometimes though :( )
It's a great middle range console if you have the cash.
HAHAHAHA :laughings::laughings:
I never had intentions on working with this guy, I was just wondering if I was being too paranoid and this is actually a reasonably usual thing for mastering engineers.
Thanks, and if you only really knew this kids mom....red flag indeed!!
The mixes are good, to my liking and to the bands liking. I'm getting a sneaking suspicion that this guy wants to "produce it" aka fuck shit up.
Thanks for the response, I think the Armenians have it right!
So I'm doing work with this band and I suggested an ME that could master the album for around 400 bucks, now the guitarist in the band says that his mom, who was in a semi popular band, knows a guy who claims to be "the best in tennessee" :laughings: and can master it for 100 bucks.
But anyways...
