    vocal booth

I agree with pandamonk. For instance my new vocal booth is in a corner with a 4'' thick piece of 703 in the corner and foam on the walls. the 703 kills all the unwanted frequencies and the foam helps wit hthe reverb issue. I use the right corner of my control room for vocals with the monitors...

To frame or not to frame (OC 703)...

through my experience with frames, they add more weight, and you need to make a very strong frame for them to work. Right now I wish I framed some and left some without a frame. If you check out the "soundproofing" thread, pandamonk left a nice picture of a frame that has the sides open for more...

    mopads vs pvc monitor stands

mopads have mixed reviews some say they suck the mids out of the mix. I actually like them. I have my monitors set up on homemade stands and the mopads are on top. I only used the stands to get the speakers postioned at my ears correctly.

    mineral wool vs. 703

Alright I am using 703 in my control room, it costs twice as much as mineral wool.http://www.atsacoustics.com/cat--Raw-Sound-Absorption-Materials--102.html I am wondering if I can use mineral wool to treat my drum room/guitar room which is about 10' x 11'...I have read the absorbtion on both...

    Studio Display...

Well this a little beyond the main topics of this forum, but I would like to know how to light my studio efficiently. Right now I have 2 Flourescents and i want to cover them with my ceiling tiles so they will gone. How should i light my control room then?? I can't stand working under the...

  11. Shout It Out

    soundproofing

well no..there is still echo which is why i bought foam in the first place since i have 703. YOu may be right, it definatly sounds different. the bass traps make the kick drum sound a lot clearer, but the side panels seem to make things even more bassy (the whole song lacks highs) The echo in...

    Orange Crush CR30R

I am wondering if anyone has any recorded samples of this amp with its factory clean and distortion...I have heard some good written things about the amp!

    soundproofing

So I have one last important question for my sound set up.. I didnt mount the bass traps on the walls becasue i can't so i have them propped up on the wall and they still seem to help but my 2 2'' panels on the side walls seem to be really bulky on the walls and they might be sucking out too...

ugh....finishing the sound project is taking forever. I keep messing up. w/e I hope my studio is complete by the end of this coming week!

    Mix lacking brightness

I agree. The guitars do not sound bright and i would think it is an acoustic problem.

    How Do These 2 Compare?

For what it is worth....sometimes the IMP on the behringer can sound pretty ok. But that is just me. There is much better in the price range though

    soundproofing

im still going to be using foam im mixing and matching with my panels foam is more flexible than the panels. You can stick foam in places that a big absorber cant go.

    Tuning a room

i've been reading in here that absorbing is better than diffusing in small rooms. I may be wrong, but I'd check on that if I were you. As for monitor placement from the wall...I really am clueless on how far the monitors should be from the wall, any advice??
  19. Shout It Out

    soundproofing

hahaha nah the frame is not a 2x4 it measures 2 x 4 though. i built the frams like the picture pandamonk posted. Very Lightweight my bass trap weighs about 10 pounds and the absorbers weigh about 7

    soundproofing

rfz if i have a 2 x 4 frame with rigid fiberglass and the top of the woofer on my monitor is 40 inches off of the ground and 3 feet away from the wall, where should my frames be hanging on the side wall in height relation and to the speaker and distance relation from the wall??
