    The song's name is "Outloud"

Thank you for the listen HeavyD. Actually, I do have a nowhereradiosite I just don't use it as much because I don't like the template they have. You can also grab the song at http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/album.php?aid=2340&alid=-1 Yeah, I record on a computer alone though I wish I...

    The song's name is "Outloud"

It's been a good while since I posted an mp3, but the material's been flowing lately and I never finish a song without an mp3 clinic visit. I hope it's not too rough for y'all. Andrew. http://andrewrypel.iuma.com "outloud"

How do I get a painting on a cd cover?

Re: Re: How do I get a painting on a cd cover? The original painting is about 15'' by 20''. I want to go with a package deal company right now like cd baby but not them for sure. I'm aiming at spending $1500 for 1000 copies, but that's flexible. So whatever media they give me for one of...

    de-esser?

I've heard of something called a de-esser or something used to take the siblance (hard s and p sounds) off a vocal track. Someone in the mixing clinic recommended it for one of my songs (follow my www and listen to "harbor of lights" if you want). My question is...where do I find such a thing...

Mastering sample from my home suite.

It's much better than I can do with T racks. It seems stacked to the low end of the eq range though. Maybe bring that down and take the higher freq's up and mids up a tad. The total gain for the mix is right though.

How do I get a painting on a cd cover?

I'm close enough to finishing my cd that I'm starting to think about cover art, distribution, copying etc. I haven't chose any duplication service yet. What I want to do is get a painting that my aunt did of my father on the back of the cd case. She's allowed me to use it, but I don't know...

    The Pledge

It's hot man, with a lot of potential. What I like the most is the vocals. They were performed well, and the double vocals on parts sound smooth. I love the carribean steel drum thing in the back too. Original sound that I haven't heard much of. The lo fi voice in the background is a nice...

    War Torn

Toki, You've gotten better since I last listened man. Much tighter. I enjoyed the guitar sound in this one. So much so I was hoping it was going to build to some emotional high and then take it back low. You could add another minute thirty on this song, even 2 minutes and I'd still be in...

Newbies - Recording Industry The Truth.

What I do with my $500 dollar studio and the recordings I make there is enough to scratch the musical itch I have to create. Some people go overboard, some don't go overboard enough. Isn't that what's it like in anything. Beyond this, I don't understand the debate.

First post- what do you think of my lyrics?

My favorite part was the comparison of her tan to a scewdriver. Very original. Build off that and watch what I always fall into...cliche. I firmly believe it kills the authenticity of lyric. Maybe reconsider standard traps like Broken heart, fallen apart, take you home But, some...

    Fattest-sounding mic for Guitar Amp

I have several MXLs and I don't like their condensor sound for amp mic'ing. Too crisp, too much. I'm a little suprised that nobody mentioned the Sm 58. More bass than the 57, although traditionally a gig vocal mic. I use it to mic fat slide blues out of a big fender solid state. I'm more...

    Acoustic # 2 - Isn't it a Lovely Day

The best thing about this song is that the music is tight. Nothing offbeat that I could hear. I might consider shortening the song length a bit to give more punch. Maybe with a fade on the end instead. Only my opinion though. And I liked the piano sound you got, but a grand would be nice...

sorta religious song, but didn't mean to make one

I've been out awhile trying to write my thesis, but here's a piece I've been toying with for a couple weeks. Need help working out the equilization. Too much bass here? As always all comments are welcome and appreciated. Good to be back. http://andrewrypel.iuma.com song: "God Take Me Home"...

First post in the clinic...here we go

In agreement with the everlast feat. santana vibe my observations 1. Acoustic guitar needs to be touched up. I get the sense it was recorded in a poor room acoustically. Needs more body. Not sure if that's verb, chorus, eq or all 3. 2. Electric guitar licks are great. A couple are a bit...

    My friend Marco

What's the crackling sound? That needs to go. Sounds like the acoustic guitar needs to be eq'ed. The electric riff guitar is panned too hard left and misses in a few places. The vox aren't bad, especially the harmonies. The rhythm electric needs eq too. The bass is pretty good. I don't...

    Bedlam

Must admit, those drums are real sounding. Good quality work on those. The only thing I'd do is get an authentic bass in there, you can hear the synthetics behind the one now, but sometimes that's what people want. I think a real bass would just be creamy smooth here though. Way to go on the...

    Is This Mix Closer????

More comp on the way. I used an MXL 1000 condensor and a shure 58. Cstock and Eri - Thank you for your advice on de-essing. I've never done it before, so when I get the vox run through, I'll post another mix to see what y'all think. and fprod, I'll heed your advice on being light with it...

    3rd mix of Fly Away

Focus on the vox. I don't think you need distortion on the lead vox, unless that's the crappy mic you were refering to. Just a little better take and a different reverb. I think the back up vocals are panned too hard right as well. Bring them closer to center.

    Chris Harris

Re: Chris Harris cover I love the tape hiss. Very warm feeling and matches the reverb well. Has a good, relaxed feeling. The acoustic guitar panned right needs to match that warmth a little better. Easy listen and believeable performance. A
