    Budget Compressor

I am looking for a budget compressor that I can experiment with and something that later on if I get something better made, it would be still useful on at least bass drum and snare drum. I was looking at the DBX 166 xl, ART SCL2 and the Alesis 3632.

I actually went to the store to look for beyer m130 & 160 quote, but they're too expensive for me at the moment.

    Which microphone should I get?

what I mean by traditional Led Zepplin is that picking up the drums in the room rather than close miking the drums.

    Anyone played one of these?

HI I got a 2009 American HSS strat. It is a beautiful instrument. I just wish I had bought one without the bridge humbucker. For live it is really great having the hum as it gives you more flexibility of songs you can play with it, but I would have liked to get a single coil one.

    Which microphone should I get?

I intend to record each instrument separately as I have only 1 SM57. Room has some sound treatment but it is far from a perfect room. I do not play heavy music, just pop, rock and a rarly bit funk. I wish to get a nice drum sound, irrelevant if it sounds a bit more traditional (Led Zeppelin) or...

    Which microphone should I get?

Hi I am thinking about recording my band and in the near future set up a home studio. My band consists of a vocalist, drummer, bassist and myself, playing the electric guitar. At the moment I have 4 microphones: SM57, SM58, D112 and sE X1 (LDC). For the vocals I could use she condensor or...

    Microohones for recording drums

I was considering to use a 4 microphone method to record drums. I have an AKG D112 for base drum, a Shure SM57 for snare drum and a sE Electronics X1 condenser as a center overhead microphone above the snare drum. If I get a ribbon microphone such as sE X1R and place it above the floor tom as an...

    USB audio interface

As you well noted, I am not seeking the best but just at least get the most out of what I can afford. Mostly I would be recording myself and my band. Occasionally I hope I will record a local band.

    USB audio interface

I looked at the US1800 it is quite cheaper than the Scarlett but I am not sure about the quality of the preamps. I looked at the motu 8 pre too, this unit is slightly more expensive than the scarlett but could stretch my budget if there is a huge difference in quality. The roland is more...

    USB audio interface

I am looking for a budget 8 channel USB audio interface. Preferably allows future expansion for another 4/8 channel mic preamps. I was looking at the Focusrite Scarlett 18i20. Any other good competition to this interface? I would be using it with a PC.

    Floor tom Microphone

I'm thinking about getting 1 E609 mainly for guitars but I intend to use it on the bottom of the snare drum too as it is quite large so it would not get pounded under the snare.

    Floor tom Microphone

Farview, exactly what I was afraid of, that is why I posted this. I thought I could get away with a bass drum mic on the floor tom to get an extra flavor on basedrum mics by having 2. As most of the time 1 tom and 1 floor tom is enough. If I need an extra floor tom I thought I could use one of...

    Floor tom Microphone

Hi! I am starting to buy microphones, I got the basics to record vocals, guitar and bass. Now I would like to get dynamic mics to record the drums. I got the SM57 for snare drum and D112 for base drum and I was thinking about getting 2 Sennheiser E604 for toms. I was thinking about buying a...

    Small Diaphragm Condenser Microphone

I know Behringer are cheaper compared to competition but I had bad experience with anything I had (they failed, and had to pay lots of money for repairs) so I'm a bit weary about getting anything from them, I'd rather pay something extra and get a bit more confidence that it shall work fine. I...

    Small Diaphragm Condenser Microphone

So I looked a bit around, the Studio Projects C4 are a bit expensive. The Oktava MK012 are in the price range, that have only the 10 dB pad package. So are the MXL 603S with shockmount. Actually the 603 are quite cheaper. But I would like to know if I would be better off with the Oktava. In the...

    Small Diaphragm Condenser Microphone

Mainly as drum overheads, also I may use it with acoustic guitars and I don't know about any other application of them that I could use in a rock recording scenario. Preferably brands that I can easily get in Europe. Also, I prefer buying new gear rather than second hand stuff.

    Small Diaphragm Condenser Microphone

I am about to buy my first matched pair of small diaphragm condenser microphones. I was looking into the Rode NT5MP but I would like to consider alternative mics in the similar price range. Mics that I already one are: Dynamic: Shure SM57, SM58, AKG D112 Condensor: SE X1 Please mention a...
