middleman - I stand corrected - I'm not aware of these particular speakers and was talking generalities but it appears from your and others experiences that these speakers do put all the low end via the rear. I did a quick search and it appears that they are designed to be matched with the SP8...

mate - it's the bounce off the wall that is causing the cancelation - unfortunately you can't describe the pressure gradient of low frequencies by lines with arrow heads. ;) cheers john

middleman - frequencies below 100hz are non directional which is why you can have a sub sitting under your desk yet still hear it. In fact if I was to hide a sub in your room you probably couldn't find it because its non directional. So if you have to move 5 feet to the side to hear the sub...

mate - if money is tight, and it always is, that $8,000 will build you a studio/practice room that will be OK IMO. Blue Bear is 8' and Bruce isn't complaining. ;) If you are staring from scratch make sure you run the HVAC ducts along the outerwalls instead of the normal down the middle. cheers...
