    Feedback Please!

Great job! It is one of the major problems with vocals when doing on your own. When I just sing with the speakers on, I can sing a lot better and it doesn't sound too separate from the backing track. I think the bleed kind of helps. Give it a shot and see. Try pulling down a bit (1.5 to 2db)...

good mic technique when using SM57 for vocals

I use Shure Beta. Try singing 3-5 inches away and slightly off angle to the microphone and not straight into it. If you go too far back, it doesnt pick up the voice well. And it depend on the song. For soft songs, you can sing directly to the mic. But for songs where you have to raise ur...

I have a suggestion: someone should post some vocals and everyone try to add reverb and see. It will be interesting to see how different people add their own touch and how they do it. That way everyone can learn a lot. Or maybe just compression and reverb to a vocal track and a instrument track.

acoustic treatment for a 10x10x8 bedroom

In fact, that's what i thought too. But it seems to do better with a thin film. Here is Ethan Winer about wrapping with thin plastic wraps " For bass traps, adding a thin plastic wrap is generally a Good Thing. Bass goes through the plastic, and in fact the plastic helps to increase absorption...

    Anyone making backing tracks?

Thanks for the reply Rob. I am in US so I don't know anybody back there. Usually, what they do is just work on the section where there is voice and leave the rest. So it is basically the beats and the ambience. And I am fine with most of it if it has a decent beat and some ambience to fill the...
