    Low wattage tube amp

Y'all are cool. Hey, thanks for the replies, y'all. The Nano Head seems pretty cool — thanks for the link, charger. Haven't checked on your suggestions yet, adam, but I will sometime soon.

    Low wattage tube amp

Woe is me! Man, I knew it was gonna be out of my range, but I didn't think it was gonna be that far out. Serious bummage. pauses for bout of weeping But I'll be okay. No, really. :D And thanks again for your input.

    Low wattage tube amp

Thanks for the link, TR. I sent a message to Cornford asking about pricing, since I couldn't find anything in the US distributors' sites about cost. Probably will be more than I can afford, but I agree with you that the Harlequin is a sweet amp.

    Low wattage tube amp

In a previous thread somebody listed www.amptone.com as a good resource site for the question at hand. I checked it out and found a link to a site that's dedicated to home-brewed amps. These amps are all tube but low wattage (I think all of them are under 10 watts, except for the modifieds)...

    Biggest Most Dangerous Guitar Sound

Hear hear, my goodfella! "The End of the World" (from Corridors of Power for all you non-believers ;) ) was my introduction to GM, and it still rocks all day long. And Still Got the Blues is loaded with great tones, too (personal favorite is probably "Walking By Myself" 'cause of all the great...

    Why is metal dead?

Not to hijack this thread, but I didn't. Didn't get it, that is. Is this some old homereccer in-joke that I missed out on or something?

    Why is metal dead?

Kinda like the Eddie Murphy bit where he imitates Ralph Cramden: "Norton, I been watchin' you. And I know you've been watchin' me. You watch me, I know! And you know that I know that you know that I know that you've been watchin' me." :D I'll tell you, the first time I heard "Voracious...

Tone snob quiz (Izzit tube or solid state?)

Re: It IS a Strat, and it is Solid State Hey Queue, are there any soundclips available? I tried your first link and got the old "page cannot be displayed," and when I went to the Pritchard site the samples page isn't completed.

    Why is metal dead?

:D Yeah, but all the time? Maybe if I lived in Utah or New Mexico where there are lots of long open stretches. I'd still probably end up as a road pizza. :p Seriously though, Loppster, you know what I mean. I know that you know, but I write for those who don't know any better. Like the...

    Why is metal dead?

I really hope you're kidding here. I included the smilie so that it's obvious I caught the joke. . . but don't forget that drummer Andy Galeon was only 14 when Death Angel recorded The Ultra-Violence! Shred may be dead (notice the qualifying word may) but metal isn't. Playing as fast as...

    Favorite Metal guitarist??

Sorry, Meshuggah. After I read W.I.S.C.'s post I remembered that you had listed a bunch of guys already. I'll have to admit that there are several in Meshuggah's list (and a couple in W.I.S.C.'s) that I've not heard play, although I do recognize most of the names. I just don't listen to much...

    Favorite Metal guitarist??

Well, you see that's the thing — I haven't heard anything new that resonates with me like many of the players mentioned already. Granted, I'm not going out every week and buying new CDs or seeing the new bands play live, but what I'm hearing on radio just doesn't impress me. In fact, most new...

    Favorite Metal guitarist??

Re: Re: Ahh yeah! Speedy, thanks for mentioning MF. I don't care too much for their subject matter in general, but I absolutely love "Curse of the Pharaohs." I wish I could find a CD single of that one song somewhere. Saw Mssrs. Hunolt and Holt when Exodus was touring in support of their...

    Favorite Metal guitarist??

Ahh yeah! A big "hell yeah" to Cyrokk for including Chris Poland. I don't know of any guitarist who sounds like him or uses scales the way he does. Also big kudos for the breakdown on what's metal and what ain't. Speedy my metal brutha, glad you're in on this one. But don't get too cocky on...

    Favorite Metal guitarist??

Man, these favorites are killin' me! I know I'm gonna forget someone I really dig, but here goes: Randy Rhoads — gave me my first taste of classically influenced playing and left me wanting more. James Hetfield — pre-"Black Album" Jaymz's playing was what every metal player I knew wanted to...

    Power Attenuator

Hey NG, can't respond with an answer but I'll chime in to say that I'm curious, too. I've been considering buying some tube gear to go with my old Ampeg 4x12, but I can do without the high volume. Like you, I've been looking at the Rockman option but don't know anything about them. If you...

    Poll: Best Bass Tones..and worst?

Okay, clifchamb, I'll play. Hmm, where to begin? Well, how about. . . Cliff Burton on any of Metallica's first three, but especially on Kill 'Em All. "(Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth" is especially mind-blowing. D. D. Verni on Overkill's Under the Influence album. Great punch, easily...

LOL... Check this out... Guitar Pedals you can't do withoat... :op

My fav's the "Jaco-B-Gone" bass pedal, not for the effect itself but for the fact that in the picture it says "MSRP $375 — You know it's worth it!" :D :p :D
