    Marshall JCM800 2204S ???

Not everyone is comfortable working on amps and that is understandable as it can be dangerous. Getting it fixed correctly is really all that matters.

    Marshall JCM800 2204S ???

I don't see anything that looks burnt. I still think that it's a bad solder joint. You should take the board out and check the tracing on the other side. You also might want to check the 12ax7 sockets to make sure that all of the pins fit tightly with no arcing. If they are loose you can...

    Marshall JCM800 2204S ???

My guess is that the jack itself isn't making proper contact or, you have a bad solder joint on or near the jack.

    Marshall JCM800 2204S ???

I like the checkerboard too. What's left of the grillcloth on my 1982A cab is small checkerboard. I left the cab at my brother's house and his cats tore the shit out of it. Left at 65ma and those tubes would have burned out in no time. I usually bias my EL34 tubes to about 42ma because they...

The lead parts sounded fine to me, but the rhythm parts are a bit saturated/mushy for my taste. You should try rolling the pre back like Greg said and running a tubescreamer type pedal with the gain low and the level high. That would kill some of the mush without losing your sustain.

Looking for the guitar that sounds like a les paul without the Gibson Bridge

This problem can be solved in 3 easy steps: step#1: finally admit that you have a playing technique problem step#2: move your picking hand away from the bridge as there is no good reason to be touching it step#3: enjoy playing any type of guitar without risk of injury

Looking for the guitar that sounds like a les paul without the Gibson Bridge

It's not the bridge that's in the way, it's that his hand is in the wrong place. He needs to adjust his playing technique for that particular guitar.

It sounds good. The rhythm guitars don't sound overly distorted to me. They do seem a bit overpowering in the mix but that's subjective. The leads could stand a little boost as well.

    Tuning Stability Issue

The "ping" that you are hearing is the string binding in the nut and then releasing when the tension is high enough. This indicates that the string slot is not cut correctly or it has a rough spot or burr.

    Nuts II

If you've never replaced a nut before then go with a pre-slotted Tusq nut. They are much easier to fit to your guitar than bone.

    Marshall JCM800 2204S ???

Just FYI that's not "tweed" it's checkerboard grill cloth. It looks like it might be small checker which is far more rare than large checker.

I liked the pentode mode the best. It was a bit less mushy than the triode mode.

I recently picked up an Epiphone Les Paul 100 and a Gibson case. I really just wanted the case but he made me buy the guitar with it. I got it dirt cheap so I can't complain. It's all stock and in good condition. Here is a clip that I made using the same dual flanger setup that I used in my last...

Just for shits and grins I dug out my Ross flanger and my DOD flanger 670 and ran them in stereo. The signal chain is: out of tune LP custom with dead strings > Carvin Legacy > Palmer PDI-03 > Ross flanger [left] > interface...
