Grab you an used 20 bit Adat recorder in good shape for about $50 bucks..Works like an analog recorder and it's pretty user friendly..Also the quality will be good enough to " keep" if you get some good tracks..Can be transferred to 'puter if you ever wanna go that route..Good luck..
Sounds pretty good ( if first time)..Try mixing ( monitoring) this again in mono..You'll probably hear what everyone's talking about the guitars being a little loud..Probably get better levels across the board..Good job.!
Humm..Let's see..I think the Alesis has 4 direct line outputs. You can assign outputs 1/2 for kick/snare ( you pan kick left and snare right in the Alesis but straight up going to your Tascam's channel inputs) and the outputs 3/4 as a stereo pair ( Left/Right)..All your "group" of drums(...
I had a Behringer DeNoiser ( yeah, yeah, yeah) around that I just recently sold, just for this purpose. Actually, I think this was one of Behringer's best products..It works really well for the purpose you are describing...It's single ended so it works in real time and don't need decoding.. If...
I have a friend that tracks similar to this..He plugs an electric guitar into a DI for a scratch track and puts on headphones for his " keeper" vocal track. He then go back and overdub his acoustic "mic'ed" guitar on another track..Now both are on separate tracks without bleed..Good luck...
Here's a difference you may consider..Active monitors are great for sure ( well, some of them)..If the amp is well matched with the speaker, good.. As stated, they save one additional set up step. But my main reason for using passive monitors: If my amp goes down,I just stick in another one. If...
I've sorta stated this before ( somewhere..lol)..If I had to start over again and since you are at this stage, I'll get my room sounding good before I invest in any gear..Next, the best set(s) of monitors I could afford..After getting your room sounding good with good monitors, you can evaluate...
Sometimes these type pf devices has an AGC/Limiter ( automatic gain control) built in. You may be able to defeat it by searching thru the menu..Good luck..
Remember also that the levels for analog is different than digital..What you wanna get on to tape ( stauration) will not work on your 2480..Analog is a lot more " forgiving"..Good luck..
I've recorded/heard other stuff that was recorded on an 8 track Tascam cassette recorder that was released for sale to the public and sold 1000's of cassette/CDs..As stated, if your chops are good at engineering/tracking/mixing, it can be done..BTW, I've heard stuff done on major labels that...
Hello..I have some rack gear that I'll let go for ptretty cheap..Have a one time, some expensive crap..Here's a short list:
Tascam DA-30 Dat Recorder..( transport problem)

Exactly..!.Also, this would be the most pure route ( nothing else in the signal path) and probably hear exactly what your CD's music sounds llike..But as mixsit stated, without a volume control, could get scary really fast..!..Good luck..
If the deal falls thru with darnold and you can use an Adat XT ( 16 bit) board, I have one you can buy..It just shows Error #7 but PSU,etc. works fine..
