The guitar is mic'd with MXL 991 around 12th fret at 45 degree angle facing the sound hole.. roughly 12" away.. then a TLM102 about 4 inches below the sound hole, pointed twords it, about 8" back as well.. then just panned hard left and right.

I think you might have been right, I just didn't sing it as good on the "studio" take as I can. Going to redo that now. I tried recording it live and it wasn't bad or any worse, but the guitar playing was definitely worse. Good test though. And I have to keep working on that if I'm going to...

I enjoyed the one. The hand claps were fun. If I was going to pick one thing I don't like it would have to be the fact that I can't pick something I don't like. Drums sound cool, guitars sound epic (but that's pretty much the regular for you). Vocals were awesome. Damn good stuff dude.

I don't think the new AI are USB either. Pretty sure it's a firewire only product. I use the 16.0.2 and have no problems. I also don't have any problem putting effect in the headphones for tracking.

Thanks steeno, yeah in this particular case I wasn't really bashing either of them but in listening back I feel like the vocal on the "live" was better. I actually thought it was ok in both.. I'm trying to find a way to upload them both here but the .mov doesn't work.. I will work that out...

DM60: If you have any sources on that I'd love to read it. Depending on how many tracks of stored audio you have I would assume the tracks loaded into the DAW would have to be read by the drive (not just stored in memory). I could easily be wrong as I've never read anything that talks about it...

I don't think you will see much of a difference in the i-5 and i-7, we're talking about milliseconds at this point in most tasks. You might want to consider the 256gb drive though just in case

The drums sound very muffled to me. The guitar is a little muffled.. It just sounds like everything except the vocals is drown out in the back. There are some parts where it clears up for a second like the guitar solo sound good.
